Description
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to city staff and departments for hardware, software, and network-related issues, responding to helpdesk tickets and inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
- Desktop Support: Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals, ensuring compatibility, functionality, and security of IT equipment and systems.
- Software Installation and Updates: Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of software applications and updates, following established procedures and guidelines to ensure compatibility and reliability.
- Hardware Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on IT hardware, such as replacing components, upgrading memory or storage, and cleaning equipment to optimize performance and longevity.
- User Account Management: Assist with user account creation, modification, and deactivation in active directory and other systems, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of IT assets, inventory, and support activities, documenting troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and recommendations to facilitate knowledge sharing and process improvement.
- Project Assistance: Provide support to senior IT staff on IT projects and initiatives, including system upgrades, migrations, and implementations, assisting with research, testing, and documentation as needed.
- Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge of IT systems, applications, and procedures, contributing to professional growth and development.
- Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in IT support, helpdesk, or technical assistance role desirable but not required.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and operating systems, with a willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues independently or with guidance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with end-users and team members.
