About the role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Adviser - Asset Management to lead Asset Management Master Data and Asset Readiness operations, governance and capability development.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical authority for Asset Management Master Data delivery, leading governance, integration and quality improvement initiatives while working closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure reliable and compliant service delivery.

This role is a significant leadership opportunity for a highly experienced Asset Management professional with deep expertise in SAP PM, master data governance and service delivery leadership.

Success in this role will require strong people leadership, stakeholder management, governance expertise and the ability to translate business priorities into operational outcomes.

The successful candidate will oversee master data operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, develop team capability and provide strategic direction across Asset Management Master Data and Asset Readiness activities.

The role will also lead stakeholder engagement, governance reporting, integration initiatives and technical decision-making across multiple business functions.

Scope

Your scope will include, but is not limited to, the following:

Business and Service Delivery Leadership

• Lead Asset Master Data and Asset Readiness service delivery operations.
• Ensure delivery of agreed service levels, KPIs and governance expectations.
• Supervise day-to-day master data operations and manage business-critical escalations.
• Lead governance reporting and performance reviews for global stakeholders.
• Ensure operational effectiveness, business continuity and service excellence across the function.
• Build strong stakeholder partnerships and maintain effective business relationships across regions.

Master Data Governance and Data Management

• Govern Functional Locations (FLOC), Equipment Masters and Bills of Materials (BOMs) across enterprise platforms.
• Oversee master data governance processes across ERP, MDM and associated systems.
• Ensure data consistency, traceability and compliance with established governance frameworks.
• Drive implementation of governance practices aligned with Asset Master Data and Asset Readiness standards.
• Provide strategic oversight of maintenance master data quality and governance performance.

Continuous Improvement and Transformation

• Develop and implement enterprise-scale data quality improvement strategies.
• Lead advanced root cause investigations for complex master data issues.
• Drive integration, transformation and standardisation initiatives across systems and business processes.
• Champion automation and operational improvement opportunities.
• Deliver data-driven recommendations that improve reliability, compliance and business performance.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and Asset Management requirements.
• Assess the impact of non-compliant master data on maintenance performance, reliability and business outcomes.
• Identify, mitigate and communicate risks associated with master data quality.
• Support governance audits and compliance reviews.
• Maintain accountability for master data integrity across the service delivery stream.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary technical liaison between business and technology stakeholders.
• Provide expert advice on master data governance, Asset Readiness and SAP PM practices.
• Lead stakeholder discussions regarding service performance, governance and strategic priorities.
• Communicate complex technical findings clearly to business and operational stakeholders.
• Influence decision-making through data insights, governance expertise and industry best practices.

People Leadership and Team Development

• Lead and develop teams across Band L, Band K and Band J levels.
• Conduct regular performance and development discussions with team members.
• Identify capability gaps and establish structured development plans.
• Mentor and coach team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, respect and continuous learning.
• Support workload planning, resource allocation and operational prioritisation.
• Lead the team in alignment with Rio Tinto's values of Care, Courage and Curiosity.

About yourself

We are looking for candidates with:

• A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.
• At least 7 years of experience within Engineering, Asset Management or Master Data Management environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Asset Management principles and SAP PM.
• Extensive experience in enterprise master data governance and service delivery.
• Demonstrated people leadership and team management experience.
• Proven experience leading governance, quality improvement and transformation initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Experience managing operational escalations and service delivery performance.
• Expertise in Functional Locations, Equipment Masters, Bills of Materials, Maintenance Plans, Task Lists and Measurement Points.
• Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive strategic outcomes.
• Experience working within complex, global and matrixed business environments.
