About the role
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Adviser - Document Control and Information Management to lead service delivery, governance and people capability across Document Control and Information Management operations.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary authority for Document Control and Information Management service delivery, ensuring governance compliance, operational effectiveness, capability development and continuous improvement across the function.
What the role entails
This role is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced Information Management professional with expertise in document control, governance, stakeholder management and operational leadership.
Success in this role will require strong leadership capability, stakeholder engagement, service delivery management and the ability to influence transformational change. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, lead governance and compliance activities, drive automation and standardisation initiatives, and ensure high levels of team performance and customer satisfaction.
The role also requires the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, manage escalations, improve operational processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the Information Management landscape.

Scope
Your scope will include, but is not limited to, the following:
Service Delivery and Operational Leadership
- Lead Document Control and Information Management operations across the service delivery team.
- Ensure service delivery performance against agreed SLAs, KPIs and governance requirements.
- Manage operational escalations and support resolution of complex document-control issues.
- Lead service-performance reporting and governance reviews with stakeholders.
- Ensure business continuity and operational excellence across the function.
Document Control and Governance
- Ensure effective management of document registration, classification, version control and metadata governance.
- Maintain oversight of document-control logs, registers and filing systems to ensure audit readiness.
- Ensure document compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Lead document-governance activities and monitor compliance risks across the organisation.
- Drive adherence to controlled document standards and Information Management governance frameworks.
Quality, Compliance and Risk Management
- Lead audit support activities and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis for document-control issues, non-conformances and governance risks.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions across the service delivery function.
- Monitor and manage document quality, version-control integrity and audit-trail effectiveness.
- Identify and mitigate operational, compliance and governance risks.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop strong and productive relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Engage regularly with stakeholders to discuss service delivery, governance, reporting and improvement opportunities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex operational and service-delivery matters.
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding Information Management, governance and operational improvements.
- Influence business decisions through expertise, governance knowledge and stakeholder collaboration.
Continuous Improvement and Transformation
- Lead digitalisation, automation and process-transformation initiatives across Information Management activities.
- Drive workflow simplification, standardisation and service optimisation programs.
- Lead development and implementation of knowledge-management frameworks and governance tools.
- Support development of AI-enabled Information Management solutions and operating models.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the team.
People Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Document Control and Information Management professionals.
- Conduct regular performance and development discussions with direct reports.
- Support workforce planning, workload allocation and resource prioritisation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety and continuous learning.

About yourself
We are looking for candidates with:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- More than 7 years of experience in Document Control, Information Management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated people leadership and service delivery management experience.
- Strong experience using EDMS platforms such as ALIM, SharePoint, Documentum, OpenText or equivalent systems.
- Advanced knowledge of document registration, classification, version control and metadata governance.
- Strong understanding of Information Management governance and compliance frameworks.
- Proven experience leading governance, audit and operational improvement initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- Experience managing service delivery, escalations and operational performance.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to lead high-performing teams and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
