About Audubon

The National Audubon Society is a leading nonprofit conservation organization with 120 years of science-based, community-driven impact, dedicated to protecting birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow. Birds are powerful indicators of our planet’s health, acting as sentinels that warn us of environmental change and inspire action. Audubon works across the Western Hemisphere, driven by the understanding that what is good for birds is good for the planet. Through a collaborative, bipartisan approach across habitats, borders, and the political spectrum, Audubon drives meaningful and lasting conservation outcomes. With 800 staff and over 1.9 million supporters, Audubon is a dynamic and ever-growing force committed to ensuring a better planet for both birds and people for generations to come. Position Summary:

Audubon seeks an Engagement & Communications Intern to provide critical capacity in digital communications, data-base management, and statewide chapter support.

The internship is a paid semester long internship designed to give students and early-career professionals hands-on nonprofit experience while contributing to conservation capacity-building in Texas. Across Texas, there are 19 Audubon affiliated chapters supporting our mission to protect birds and the places they need today and tomorrow through local grassroots community outreach and education. In an effort to advance their impact, we are looking to support their work through technology advances on their websites, creating informational hubs for easy resource access, connecting chapters with the next generation of birders through social media, and other opportunities in collaboration with the intern, Audubon Texas, and the Chapters.

The intern will manage digital tools and resources, support communications, and collaborate with chapter leaders to aid their outreach efforts to meet our Flight Plan Community Building Milestone of growing and mobilizing a broader, more diverse network of people who care about birds and the places they need. Beyond their primary responsibilities, the intern will also have opportunities to learn from Audubon program staff and explore conservation career pathways.

Length of Internship: The internship is expected to last between 10-15 weeks

Location: Remote Texas; opportunities for hybrid work in Texas

Hours: 15 hours per week anticipated

Intern Schedule:  Monday – Friday, working hours between 8am-5pm, flexible schedule and times available

Projected Start Date/End Date: aligned with fall and spring academic semesters estimating start date Sep 1.

Compensation:

$20.00 – $22.50 / hour
