Maintenance Technician - Grounds
Prescott Regional Airport
Part Time - Temporary
Hiring Pay: $22.34 per hour
FLSA Status: Non exempt, eligible for overtime compensation

Essential Duties:
- Maintain airport grounds by performing comprehensive weed mitigation using approved mechanical and chemical control methods; picks up trash, debris, and tree limbs; trims bushes, trees, and shrubs; maintain flower beds in a trimmed weed-free manner.
- Performs minor and preventive maintenance and repairs on a variety of assigned small equipment
- Maintains taxi lanes, aprons, hangar areas, terminal grounds, roadways and landscaped areas; irrigation, rakes weeds
- Performs routine inspections of airport facilities and equipment; sweeps sidewalks and parking lots
- Monitors pavement joints and non-movement airfield surfaces for vegetation growth and reports infrastructure concerns.
- Clears snow from building walkways in winter and treats with deicer as needed to ensure safe walkways.
- May serve as backup to Airport Custodial by performing general custodial and maintenance duties, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, restock paper towels, toilet paper, soap, cleaning floors, carpets and emptying trash of buildings to ensure facilities are operating in a safe and orderly manner.
- Initiates repairs from help tickets submitted by staff.
- Assists in the setup, preparation, tear down, and clean up for special events; or equipment setup/tear down.
- Coordinates with other departments to make needed repairs; works with outside vendors for services outside of and during operational hours. Operates, mowers, and trimmers in the care and maintenance of airport grounds; uses and maintains hand and power tools; and may use heavy equipment.
- Analyzes operational problems and make recommendations to correct or improve procedures.
- Keeps records, files, logs, ledgers, etc. of activities in order to provide accurate documentation of work performed.
- Compiles data for administrative analysis and prepares reports or summaries of data from records.
- Serves as a representative of the City of Prescott.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years' experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, working with zero-turn mowers and/or tractors, public works, facilities maintenance, airport maintenance, or related field is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possess a valid Arizona driver's license; pass a TSA-mandated 10-year security background investigation, pre-employment drug test, fingerprint background check, and driver record check. Completion of non-movement training within three (3) months of hire.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Knowledge of a variety of skilled trades related to grounds maintenance, landscaping, building construction, maintenance, repair, and renovation.
- Knowledge of machinery including zero-turn mowers and/or tractors, equipment, and tools necessary for maintaining public areas.
- Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical skills.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and troubleshooting of minor heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.
- Skill in following oral and written instructions.
- Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and customers

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
- Work is performed outside under potentially adverse weather conditions.
- Safely performs duties including repetitive standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching for long periods of time.
- Safely operates required equipment and City vehicles as needed.
- Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicates in person, over the radio and by telephone.
- Requires working day, evening, and/or night shifts as well as weekends and split shifts.
- Safely performs manual labor for extended periods of time, repetitive lifting, pulling and pushing, climbing ladders, stooping, bending, and twisting; safely lifts 50 pounds.
- Exposed to adverse weather conditions, high traffic areas,, chemicals, rotating equipment, noise, high-medium-low voltage, and other potentially hazardous environments.
- Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
