Job Description:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the Company's financial records. This position reports to the Accounting & Reporting Manager and is located in Austin, Texas within Ferrovial Corporate.
The Accountant will perform balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting reviews, lease accounting activities, journal entry preparation, fixed asset accounting, and support internal and external reporting requirements. The role will also participate in financial process automation initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the Accounting & Reporting function.
Responsibilities
General Accounting & Month-End Close
Execute monthly depreciation processes and maintain fixed asset accounting records.
Prepare and record journal entries as required during month-end and quarter-end close activities.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
Analyze accounting balances and support the resolution of accounting discrepancies.
Ensure accounting records comply with US GAAP and Company policies.
Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
Intercompany Accounting
Perform intercompany reconciliation reviews across multiple legal entities.
Investigate and resolve intercompany differences.
Support group-level intercompany reconciliation processes.
Monitor and validate intercompany balances prior to reporting deadlines.
Lease Accounting
Maintain lease accounting schedules including new leases, modifications, renewals, and terminations.
Prepare and review ASC 842 accounting calculations and journal entries.
Monitor lease accounting data between accounting systems and lease management platforms.
Support quarterly lease reporting requirements and provide documentation for audits.
Financial Reporting & Automation
Support the Financial Statements process and related reporting activities.
Participate in balance sheet reconciliation automation initiatives.
Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities and automation enhancements.
Support testing, validation, and implementation of new accounting tools and reporting processes.
Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
Prepare documentation and schedules requested by internal and external auditors.
Respond to Tax department requests including compliance reporting, franchise fee support, and other tax-related requirements.
Maintain adequate supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.
Assist in ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Ad Hoc Activities
Support special projects and management requests.
Assist with accounting research and analysis as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and reporting quality.
Provide support during annual audits, quarterly reviews, and regulatory reporting activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
3-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting environments.
Experience performing month-end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS a plus
Experience supporting external audits and financial reporting processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Experience with lease accounting under ASC 842 and IFRS16.
Experience supporting multi-entity and intercompany accounting.
Experience with process automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Public accounting experience and/or CPA certification is considered a plus.
Skills
Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Copilot, AI a plus.
