About the Hiring Group
RTI’s Office of Finance is seeking to fill Finance Manager position. The manager will provide direct supervision and coaching for a group of project financial analysts/Billers in addition to overseeing multiple complex projects independently. This role is responsible for proactively guiding and supporting project financial analysis by providing high level analytical expertise, leading a team of analysts, and developing strong customer relationships.
What You'll Do
Management
- Lead a high performing team by fostering knowledge sharing and continued growth of multiple direct reports including:
- Promote accountability and autonomy, empowering staff to provide proactive financial analysis, make decisions, and offer creative solutions to complex problems
- Cultivate a culture of respect and inclusivity
- Ongoing individual goal development, feedback and training opportunities to build financial capabilities
- Effective recruitment, onboarding and retention as necessaryIdentify and implement process improvement opportunities and industry best practices.
- Lead and/or participate in special projects including implementation of new financial policies, procedures and systems to improve or enhance financial management and operating efficiencies.
Financial AnalysisProject financial analysis including: profitability analysis, cost forecasting, variance and fee deviation analysis.Project review including: review of actual costs for proper charging and accuracy, review invoices, and support processing payment approvals. Ensure that all projects are reviewed monthly and communicate summary of financial condition to project leaders.Provide effective guidance to project leader and team management regarding potential changes in statement of work requiring revised budgets.Prepare monthly progress reports including project forecasts and resource projections for client. Support preparation of continuation applications/carry over fund budgets; prepare add-on budgets.Review initial project authorizations and project setup for accuracy, review/solicit guidance for understanding of relevant terms and conditions applicable to contract.
Technical Skills• Ability to translate complex data/ideas into RTI level insights.• Proficient with financial models, ability to manage ambiguity in business modeling.• Awareness of insights based on global trend identification and analysis. • Technology/digital capabilities: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other data analysis/visualization tools.
Communication• Ability to present reporting, forecasts, etc. to business leaders confidently and professionally.• Ability to translate data appropriately, story-telling / strong use of visuals to articulate messages. • High level negotiation and persuasion skills / influence without authority. • Seeks & provides feedback with passion for continuous improvement.
People/Process/Leadership SkillsIndependently proficient at business navigation, understanding inter-dependencies & knowing when to engage others, able to effectively prioritize workload, self-manage and complete tasks to best meet stakeholder’s needs.Leadership within the team, seeks out challenging opportunities, identifies and implements process improvement opportunities with little oversight and opportunities to develop others, assists with recruiting and onboarding strong talent.Strong representative on cross-institute initiatives demonstrating problem solving, collaboration and innovation capabilities.Understands relationship between technology and processes.Potential for growth.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with 8+ years of relevant experience required (or Masters +6). Other undergraduate degrees will be considered with related work experience
- Knowledge of government contracting a plus
