Position Overview:
As part of the talented Product Development & Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing global technical support to Mercury Marine delivery partners and customers. They participate in new product development programs, develop engineering tools that enable quality propulsion system installations and coordinate with marine industry manufactures to develop system engineering solutions to problems involving marine propulsion systems. The Product Application Engineer coordinates resolution of current product issues and leads the onsite launch of new and current model Mercury products at the boat OEM. This position will be based in Missouri/Arkansas/Oklahoma and will provide critical support to marine manufacturers.

Essential Functions:
New Product Development Programs and Launch
- Gather fact based, measurable VOC data & communicate to organization
- Communicate Mercury new product changes to boat OEM's via ACTION Presentations
- Assist boat builders with the integration of marine propulsion systems
- BOM's, Structural Reviews, Installation & Sea Trial Reviews, Vessel Personalities, Performance Optimization, Issue Resolution
Current Product
- Champion Resolution of Current Product Concerns
- Create clear and concise problem definitions
- Manage interim containment actions at the OEM
- Implement permanent corrective actions and prevention.
- Document issues in Mercury's CPR System
- Ensure OEM propulsion system installations meet Mercury Marine's installation requirements.
- Perform and document annual installation audits on current production boat models.
- Champion resolution of installation issues documented in audits.
- Support the integration of current products into new boat models.
- Support, facilitate propulsion system installation training of OEM installation technicians
- Create and manage vessel personalities
- Participate in product improvement projects, engine/boat integration projects and new technology advancements driven by customer needs.
- Support dealer meetings and customer events as required
Required Qualifications:
- BS Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of marine engine, engine systems and electronic controls
- Knowledge of System engineering Methods
- Knowledge of marine industry and basic vessel design
- Able and willing to perform in vessel testing, trouble shooting and repairs
- Proficient with computers & commons software programs
- Exposed to or working knowledge of 6 Sigma problem solving tools
- Ability to participate in team-based work groups
- Ability to communicate well both written & orally
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills
- Strong negotiation and selling skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective when dealing with difficult or unexpected situations
- Basic Project Management Skills
- Ability to travel 4 days a week
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Engineering
- Knowledge of vessel performance optimization
- Knowledge of Naval Architecture Principles
- Knowledge of Noise, Vibration and Harshness Principles
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher
The anticipated pay range for this position is 73,600 – 101,800, annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
