The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Content Specialist for Cardiac and Vascular Services. The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining compelling, accurate content across the program’s digital channels, with primary responsibility for website content. The role works closely with Cardiac and Vascular Services physicians and clinical leaders and partners across UHealth Marketing and Communications to translate complex clinical, research, education, and program information into clear, engaging content for patients, referring physicians, professional peers, and other key audiences.

In addition to website content, this role coordinates social media content and proactively identifies and develops stories that can feed the broader marketing and public relations engine. The specialist will help surface clinical innovation, patient stories, research discoveries, physician expertise, program milestones, and other newsworthy opportunities, ensuring a consistent pipeline of content that strengthens awareness and reputation for Cardiac and Vascular Services and UHealth.

The Digital Content Specialist’s key areas of responsibility include:

  • Write, edit, publish, and maintain content for Cardiac and Vascular Services’ UHealth web presence using the enterprise content management system.
  • Work closely with Cardiac and Vascular Services physicians, clinical teams, marketing and communications partners, and technical teams to ensure content is accurate, current, audience-focused, and aligned with UHealth brand standards.
  • Coordinate social media content for Cardiac and Vascular Services, including developing content ideas, gathering assets and information, maintaining an editorial pipeline, and partnering with the enterprise social media team on publishing and amplification.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and package stories that can feed the UHealth marketing and public relations engine, including clinical breakthroughs, patient stories, research discoveries, physician expertise, program milestones, events, and other newsworthy developments.
  • Serve as a liaison between Cardiac and Vascular Services and UHealth Marketing and Communications, helping connect program priorities and subject-matter experts with opportunities across web, social media, earned media, executive communications, and broader marketing channels.

Accountabilities:

  • Create, develop, edit, publish, and manage website content for Cardiac and Vascular Services, ensuring information is accurate, current, accessible, optimized for search, and aligned with UHealth brand and digital standards.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with Cardiac and Vascular Services physicians and clinical leaders to translate complex medical, scientific, research, and program information into clear, compelling content for patient, physician, academic, and public audiences.
  • Coordinate Cardiac and Vascular Services’ social media content in partnership with the enterprise social media team, including content planning, copy development, asset coordination, editorial calendars, and identification of timely opportunities for amplification.
  • Build and maintain a proactive story pipeline for marketing and public relations by identifying and developing patient stories, clinical innovations, research discoveries, physician expertise, milestones, events, and other compelling narratives.
  • Partner with UHealth Marketing and Communications to package and route stories and content opportunities for use across earned media, social media, web, video, photography, executive communications, and marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate with internal and external creative resources to produce supporting content and rich media, including photography, video, graphics, illustrations, and other digital assets.
  • Use web, social, audience, and content performance insights to recommend improvements, identify emerging opportunities, and support ongoing content strategy for Cardiac and Vascular Services.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced clinical and academic environment while ensuring content reflects UHealth policies, standards, priorities, and voice.

Core Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Digital Media, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in academic medicine is required, and experience supporting cardiac and vascular services is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with content management systems and managing or developing website content is required. The successful candidate does not need to have served primarily as a writer, but must be a strong editor with demonstrated ability to shape, refine, and translate complex medical, scientific, and technical information into clear, engaging content for multiple audiences.
  • Experience coordinating social media content, developing stories, and working directly with physicians, researchers, clinical leaders, or other subject-matter experts is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent editing, interviewing, storytelling, and content-development skills. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, digital content best practices, social media, and content performance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using generative AI tools to support content development, editing, research, ideation, summarization, and workflow efficiency, with sound editorial judgment and appropriate attention to accuracy, privacy, and organizational standards.
