Location: Pocomoke Hatchery, Egg Depot, Pocomoke City, MD
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday including holidays
Hours: Beginning between 4:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm and 8:00 a.m. to 6pm / this is a 4 day 10 hour shift position; these positions generally average 40 hours a week. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for Packing and Unpacking eggs, daily shipping and receiving of eggs, data entry, reporting, and inventory of eggs.
Must be able to complete all production paperwork or data entry into a computer based tracking system or any tasks related to the job function
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform egg inventory and maintain inventory on floor.
Place hatching eggs in properly labeled containers, boxes, and buggies.
Complete all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
Washes and sanitizes the dirty side box room with a pressure washer.
Others duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: Pulling empty farm and buggies to the Packing Room and wash and sanitizing the pull room with a pressure washer.
Operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer, coordinate and pack export eggs into case and racks by using the Egg Packer, Operate Floor machine to clean and sanitize the Egg Room, maintain a clean and organized work area
Operate buggy washer, operate macerator, operate a high pressure and regular water hose, wash buggies, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizers, wash boxes, make egg boxes, maintain a clean an organized work area
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering in and out, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must be able to push/pull (on wheels) egg buggies weighing up to 500-1500 lbs. Must lift egg boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
· Tools and Equipment: Operation of Egg Packing Machine, pressure washer, buggy washer
· Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
· Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs and ear muffs will be used as needed.
· Chemical Commonly Used: Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, and lubricants.
· Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
