With ground-breaking brain science, path-breaking performances, creative start-ups, big data, big ambitions, hands-on learning, and a whole lot of robots, CMU doesn’t imagine the future, we invent it. If you’re passionate about joining a community that challenges the curious to deliver work that matters, your journey starts here!

The Mellon College of Science (MCS) is home to four departments and many programs and research centers that cross disciplines. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our departmental strengths in the core sciences. MCS faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including polymer science, cosmology, mathematical finance, and neuroscience.

Our Biological Sciences department is seeking a Research Associate to join the Hiller Laboratory. In this role, you will assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected, and writing up experiment results. The position also involves collaborating closely with laboratory members to interpret genomic data, contributing to manuscript preparation, and assisting in the development of new computational approaches to address biological questions. If you have experience with the use and development of comparative genomics pipelines for bacterial genomes, this is the perfect opportunity to explore.

  • Assistance with manuscript preparation.
  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
  • Other duties as assigned: training of incoming students.

We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.
