Job Summary
The Product Manager III is responsible for the strategic planning, development and management of new and existing product portfolios and client servicing experiences. The Product Manager III will be a subject matter expert in defining the overall business strategy and financial plan, including knowledge of industry trends, production expectations, performance, forecasting, profitability outcomes, and goals for a portfolio of products. The Product Manager III consults with senior business leaders and directs allocated resources to plan, develop, implement, and measure product and sales initiatives to increase overall product portfolio performance while adhering to the risk framework.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the strategic design and development of new product portfolios and services that meet a client need
  • Recommends new or enhanced product or portfolio pricing and value propositions, along with influencing and crafting product positioning and channel content and messaging
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting out daily, weekly, and monthly acquisition performance trends and results
  • Responsible for crafting and maintaining the 1-3-5 Product Roadmap
  • Responsible for understanding market conditions, the regulatory landscape and making recommendations for change as appropriate to internal and external conditions
  • Accountable for the compliance and legality of all product portfolio offerings and effectiveness of distribution and delivery
  • Accountable for scanning the competitive landscape, keeping a pulse on the competition with noted gaps, strengths, weaknesses and forecasting industry trends
  • Accountable for forecasting accuracy, performance measurement and monitoring, and overall client experience and impacts
  • Builds relationships with vendors and may manage negotiating and influencing vendor contracts
  • Collaborates with Senior Marketing Consultants to manage marketing campaigns and capabilities and measures and reports out on results
  • Lead business initiatives following a project plan and is responsible for outcomes
  • Consult with business leaders and management to obtain buy-in and input on recommended innovations and product portfolio enhancements
  • May present business cases and critical business updates to senior leadership
  • May manage a small team of Product Managers and Analysts
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field and/or equivalent work experience (required)


Work Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in financial services or related industry (preferred)
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in product development (preferred)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Product Manager, PMP) (preferred)

  • The end-to-end oversight of a product’s lifecycle, including strategy, development, launch, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement to meet customer needs and business goals.
  • A deep understanding of how the bank operates, generates revenue, and delivers value, enabling informed decision-making that supports financial and strategic objectives.
  • A commitment to understanding and addressing the needs, preferences, and behaviors of customers to deliver relevant and valuable product experiences.
  • The ability to generate, evaluate, and implement new ideas that enhance product offerings, improve customer satisfaction, or create competitive advantage.
  • Crafting compelling narratives and visual presentations to communicate product vision, performance, and strategy to leadership and stakeholders.
  • The practice of researching and interpreting market trends, customer behavior, and competitor strategies to inform product positioning and development.
  • The identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with product development, delivery, and compliance within the bank’s risk framework.
  • The ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate product performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial metrics to ensure product profitability and alignment with financial goals.
  • The skill to clearly and effectively convey product strategies, updates, and insights to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to work cross-functionally and build consensus among diverse teams and stakeholders to drive product success.
  • The capability to lead product-related initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring timely delivery, resource alignment, and measurable outcomes.
  • The ability to build, negotiate, and maintain productive relationships with third-party vendors to support product development and delivery.
  • The collaboration with marketing teams to position products effectively, develop go-to-market plans, and measure campaign performance.
  • A strong understanding of the regulatory environment affecting financial products, ensuring all offerings remain compliant and up to date.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
