About the roleTLC Education and Care Limited is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join our team and assist in maintaining the highest possible standards of care and safety for our children. The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that our facilities are kept in top condition and that all safety measures are in place. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our children. As the Maintenance Assistant, your role will involve handling day-to-day maintenance tasks such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, ground keeping and electrics. Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for the everyday upkeep of the facilities. The key responsibilities for the role are:General domestic repairs.Assisting with daily property maintenance.Managing repairs from start to finish.Working alongside a team of people and assisting various departments with maintenance needs.Assisting with the various improvement projects, teaming up for special projects throughout the facilities and partnering with external contractors.Perform daily checks of the facility to identify any maintenance issues and report them to the maintenance team.Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, repairing minor leaks, and making minor repairs to furniture and equipment.Assist in painting, plumbing, electrical, and other general maintenance tasks as directed by the maintenance team.Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment and report any shortages to the maintenance team.Keep the facility clean and tidy by conducting regular cleaning tasks.Conduct regular safety checks to ensure all safety equipment and measures are in working order.Assist in maintaining the grounds of the facility, including mowing lawns, trimming bushes, and other landscaping tasks.Participate in training and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in maintenance and safety procedures.Coordinate and communicate with other departments to ensure smooth functioning of maintenance activities.What are we looking for?Prior experience in a maintenance or handyman role preferred, ideally a proven extensive property maintenance experience, across a broad range of tasks.Experience in plumbing and electrical repairs.Ability to work independently and in a team environment, progressing on various jobs assigned to them.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage time and plan effectively.A “can-do” attitude that embraces challenges with enthusiasm and a flexible approach to handle diverse tasks.Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsPositive and confident communicator with the ability to think laterally and work on their own intuitive.Enthusiastic and willing to work as part of a team.Effective verbal, written and communication skills to ensure seamless collaboration with team members and stakeholders.Good eye for detail.Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for scheduled or emergency maintenance situations.Full permission to work unrestricted in Ireland is essential.Full Drivers Licence.ExpectationsYou are expected to carry out your duties in a diligent and professional manner and with a friendly outgoing attitude, as you will be meeting with our clients on occasion you must ensure you look presentable at all times.
