About Us

From commercial office space and manufacturing to multi-site retail portfolios, we manage and support over 1 billion square feet of facilities space for the nation’s leading organizations. We provide comprehensive facility services ranging from mechanical maintenance and self-performed, site-based operations to energy-efficiency upgrades and supplier-managed interior/exterior maintenance.

Job Summary

The Facility Manager serves as a highly mobile operational leader responsible for ensuring excellence in facility operations across customer locations throughout the organization. The role provides leadership in maintenance operations, customer engagement, financial performance, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement while delivering exceptional service and operational reliability.

As a key organizational resource, the Facility Manager is deployed where leadership support is needed most, often filling critical vacancies and supporting sites through periods of transition or increased operational demand. Success in this role requires extensive travel, strong business and customer acumen, intellectual agility, and the ability to quickly evaluate situations, establish credibility, lead teams, and improve performance in a variety of facility environments

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facility Operations & Maintenance Management: Lead all aspects of facility operations across assigned sites to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.
    • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities through the applicable CMMS platform.
    • Develop strategies to improve equipment reliability, operational effectiveness, and overall facility performance while ensuring maintenance work is completed in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory standards.
  • Customer, Stakeholder & Vendor Relationship Management:
    • Serve as the primary liaison between EMCOR, customers, and service partners. Build and maintain strong working relationships with customer stakeholders, field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors. Lead customer meetings, communicate performance results, address service concerns, and ensure contract requirements and customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded. Manage vendor performance and hold service providers accountable for safety, quality, responsiveness, and compliance standards.
  • Financial & Business Performance Management: Manage site and portfolio financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, purchase orders, invoicing, capital planning, and expense control.
    • Monitor operational and financial performance indicators, analyze trends, and develop corrective action plans when required.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, optimize costs, and enhance service delivery while maintaining compliance with contractual and organizational performance expectations.
  • Compliance, Auditing & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, customer, contractual, environmental, and company requirements.
    • Conduct facility audits and inspections, maintain accurate records and documentation, support internal and external audits, and oversee corrective actions resulting from identified deficiencies.
    • Monitor operational risks and implement processes that maintain compliance, reduce exposure, and support continuous operational excellence
  • Leadership, Team Development & Workforce Management: Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for facility personnel, technicians, and subcontracted resources. Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, customer focus, and operational excellence. Coach, mentor, and develop team members; support performance management processes; establish clear expectations; and ensure resources are effectively deployed to meet business objectives and customer commitments.
  • Safety, Projects & Continuous Improvement: Promote a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, customer, and company safety requirements. Lead safety meetings, investigate incidents and concerns, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Manage facility improvement and capital projects from planning through execution, while driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, quality, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and cost optimization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Progressively responsible experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, property operations, or a related field
  • Experience managing facility operations, maintenance programs, vendors, budgets, and customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, developing employees, and driving operational performance
  • Experience managing projects, capital improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives preferred
  • Ability to travel extensively, including overnight travel, to support facilities across the organization.
  • Ability to rapidly mobilize to customer locations experiencing leadership vacancies, operational challenges, or business transitions

  • Valid driver's license required
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required; OSHA 30-hour certification preferred
  • Professional certifications such as Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP), IFMA, BOMA, LEED, or other industry-recognized certifications are preferred
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly assess facility operations, maintenance programs, compliance risks, and business performance across diverse customer environments
  • Ability to rapidly learn site-specific processes, systems, customer expectations, and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrates intellectual agility by adapting to changing business conditions, customer needs, and facility environments while maintaining operational effectiveness
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and deliver consistent performance in dynamic, travel-intensive assignments
  • Proficiency in CMMS platforms and Microsoft business applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Builds trust and establishes effective working relationships with customers, team members, and stakeholders in new environments
  • Quickly assesses organizational dynamics and adapts communication and leadership styles to meet operational needs
  • Leads and influences teams through periods of transition, change, and operational uncertainty
  • Communicates complex operational, financial, and performance information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
