The key purpose of the role is being a part of the BSC Reporting team which is responsible for the Power BI reporting and business intelligence across the African Zone across various functions. The Reporting Lead will be accountable for partnering with our customers to build the best visibility for information across the Africa Zone; supporting the reporting ecosystem across all the countries in the Africa Zone and; working with the business and technical teams to build the appropriate enhancements to existing reports as well as building new requirements to ensure business visibility for changing KPI's. The role will also support the adoption of emerging analytics capabilities, including AI-driven insights and automation, where these provide value to the business.
 

Key roles and responsibilities:
 

Business Analyses

• Partner with stakeholders to understand and document business intelligence requirements. Define functional specifications for reporting and analytics solutions.

• Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improved reporting and insights. Translate business needs into technical requirements and delivery plans.

• Document reporting requirements, metrics, and data definitions.

• Identify opportunities to enhance reporting and decision-making through advanced analytics and AI-enabled insights.

Data Engineering

• You should be strong with SSMS and TSQL, Power Query, MDX, Power BI, and DAX are just a few of the tools and systems on the MS SQL Server BI Stack.

• Exhibit a foundational understanding of database concepts such relational database architecture, multidimensional database design, and more.

• Integrate data, alter data, and connect to data sources for business intelligence. Design data models that transform raw data into insightful knowledge. (technical modelling aspect)

• Make necessary tactical and technological adjustments to enhance current business intelligence systems. (platform and data pipeline optimization aspect)

• Ensure data platforms and datasets are structured and governed to support future analytics, AI, and automation requirements.

Power BI Development

• Support existing landscape of Power BI reports. Developing Power BI Desktop to create dashboards, KPI scorecards, and visual reports.

• Formulate automated reports and dashboards using Power BI and other reporting tools.

• Establish role-level security on data and comprehend Power BI's application security layer models.

• Design data models that transform raw data into insightful knowledge. (semantic model and Power BI model aspect)

• Integrate data, alter data, and connect to data sources for business intelligence. (Power Query and dataset development aspect)

• Explore and implement Power BI and Microsoft analytics features, including AI-assisted insights and natural language capabilities, to improve user experience and business visibility.

• Demonstrable problem-solving skills with an ability to manage complexity and ambiguity

• Strong understanding of Agile & Scrum with a proven track record of delivery

• Business Analysis skills - requirement documentation and elicitation

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant 3-year university degree in Commerce, Engineering, Information Systems or related field

• 5 Years Advanced proficiency in Reporting and Analytics Technologies Databricks, SQL, Python, R, SAP, SYSPRO and Power BI – Certifications beneficial

• Experience in an FMCG – beneficial
