Position Overview
Autodesk is a global leader in design and make technology, with expertise across architecture, engineering, construction, design, manufacturing, and entertainment. Our software and services empower innovators everywhere to solve challenges big and small—from greener buildings to smarter products to more compelling media and entertainment.
At Autodesk, we believe that when you have the right tools to work and think flexibly, you have the power to transform what actually needs making. We provide our customers with technology to help them achieve better outcomes for their products, businesses, and the world.
We are looking for a highly motivated software engineer to join the PSET-Access group. The team builds and operates systems that enable secure, reliable, and scalable access to product capabilities and resources, and now in the process to develop the next generation to modernize the access management capabilities. In this role, you will work with engineers and cross-functional partners to design, build, test, deploy, and operate production software. You will primarily develop backend services using Java or Go, while owning well-defined components and projects, contributing to technical decisions, and helping improve the reliability, maintainability, and developer experience of the systems the team owns.
This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who has solid software engineering fundamentals and is ready to grow their technical depth and ownership.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain production-quality backend software, primarily using Java or Go
Deliver well-scoped features and technical improvements with increasing independence
Build and improve services, APIs, libraries, and tooling that support access-related workflows and platform capabilities
Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and participate actively in code and design reviews
Debug production issues and perform root-cause analysis across services and system boundaries
Improve system reliability, observability, performance, security, and operational readiness
Participate in the team's operational responsibilities, including monitoring and incident response where applicable
Work closely with product, security, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, engineering standards, and team best practices
Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and simplify existing systems
Seek and incorporate feedback while contributing constructively to the growth and effectiveness of the team
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Software development experience with Java or Go as a primary programming language
Strong understanding of core software engineering concepts, including data structures, algorithms, APIs, testing, debugging, and version control
Ability to understand an existing codebase and make safe, maintainable changes
Experience writing automated tests and diagnosing software defects
Familiarity with distributed systems, backend services, cloud infrastructure, or similar production environments
Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with other engineers
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of well-defined engineering tasks and drive them through completion
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience building production backend services and RESTful or RPC-based APIs
Familiarity with authentication, authorization, identity, permissions, or access-control concepts
Experience with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability tooling
Understanding of security principles and secure software development practices.
Experience operating production services and troubleshooting distributed systems
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or developer productivity tooling
