HRIS Specialist
Are you an HRIS professional who is excited about new technology opportunities, developing processes, learning new things, and solving challenging problems? Are you motivated by meaningful work in an international university environment?
We are looking for an HRIS Specialist in a permanent position to drive the design and configuration of the Workday HCM platform on Aalto University’s Workday team. Since 2019, we’ve digitized HR processes with Workday and are now entering a new era aligned with our updated HR and AI strategies. The HRIS Specialist will have a key role in continuously improving our Workday HCM so that Aalto’s digital HR processes are smooth, intuitive and scalable. Join us in shaping the sustainable future!
Your role and goals
You’ll join Aalto’s Workday team and report to Ulla Martola, Head of Operative HR. In your role, you will
- Design, implement and manage of Workday configuration across selected domains (e.g. Core HCM. Security, Business Processes, Absence, Talent, Recruiting, Learning) and integrations.
- Build and optimize business processes, condition rules, validations and notifications.
- Develop reporting and analytics: advanced reports, dashboards and metrics to enable data-driven decisions; support data quality and governance.
- Evaluate new Workday features/modules and third‑party integrations; drive adoption where they add value.
- Partner with HR process owners, HR teams, faculty, IT (e.g. HR Solution Owner, Integration team) and our AMS partner to capture requirements and deliver user-friendly solutions.
- Provide escalation support and guidance for key users; troubleshoot issues and implement fixes and enhancements.
- Contribute to release management: preview tenant testing, impact assessments and regression testing.
- Act as a trusted advisor to HR leadership on Workday capabilities, constraints and roadmap.
- Ensure governance, compliance and best practices are embedded in configurations and ways of working.
- Be active in the Workday Community and peer networks to bring in new ideas.
Your experience and ambitions
You are preferably an HRIS professional, with experience in Workday implementation, configuration, development and reporting. We value your
- Hands-on Workday HCM configuration and reporting experience.
- Ability to translate user requirements into scalable Workday designs; clear documentation and stakeholder communication.
- Analytical, structured problem‑solving skills and the ability to prioritize across multiple stakeholders.
- A collaborative, solution‑oriented working style and resilience in change.
- Can-do attitude and capacity for conceptual thinking.
- Fluent spoken and written English; Finnish proficiency is considered an advantage.
- You’re curious about AI and new digital solutions and proactively explore how they can simplify processes and elevate the end‑user experience. You value lean, iterative development and continuous learning.
