Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Welders at Levels I–IV to join our manufacturing team. This position offers opportunities across multiple skill and experience levels, with placement determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, technical knowledge, welding qualifications, demonstrated proficiency, and weld-test results.

 

Rate

$26/hr - $45/hr

 

This position may be filled at the Welder I, II, III, or IV level based on the candidate’s qualifications. Candidates with varying levels of professional welding experience are encouraged to apply. Final position level and starting compensation will be determined based on relevant welding and fabrication experience, demonstrated technical proficiency, welding processes and materials experience, applicable certifications and qualifications, weld-test performance, ability to meet quality and RT requirements, and overall alignment with the needs of the position.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions to properly lay out, fabricate, and weld components within allowable tolerances.
• Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment and fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform welding using applicable processes, including GTAW (TIG), SMAW, FCAW, and approved dual-process methods based on qualifications and job requirements.
• Weld components in various positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
• Obtain and maintain required welding qualifications, including 6G GTAW or approved dual-process qualifications, as applicable to assigned work and position level.
• Produce sound welds that meet applicable ASME code requirements, engineering specifications, and company quality standards.
• Produce x-ray quality welds and maintain applicable radiographic testing (RT) acceptance requirements.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Ensure proper welder identification is applied to all required welds.
• Select and utilize the correct filler metals based on engineering drawings, material specifications, and welding procedures.
• Demonstrate proper understanding and application of weld purging processes.
• Perform material preparation, fit-up, grinding, beveling, cutting, and other fabrication activities.
• Complete projects accurately and within established production schedules.
• Minimize rework through proper planning, workmanship, and adherence to established procedures.
• Operate oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting equipment safely and effectively.
• Utilize tooling, fixtures, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment while maintaining safe work practices.
• Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently within authorized limits.
• Troubleshoot welding and fabrication issues and escalate technical concerns when appropriate.
• Work independently with a level of supervision appropriate to experience, qualifications, and position level.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, or support to other welders when appropriate based on experience and position level.
• Work overtime, including Saturdays, as required to meet production demands.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, PPE requirements, welding procedures, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong welding and fabrication skills appropriate to experience and position level.
• Knowledge of GTAW (TIG) and other applicable welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, filler metals, material preparation, and fabrication practices.
• Ability to use electrical and manual fabrication tools, including saws, squares, calipers, grinders, and measuring devices.
• Ability to maintain required dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
• Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently based on demonstrated skill and experience.
• Commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to provide technical guidance or mentoring to other welders when appropriate.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely utilizes the operation of material handling equipment and various tools and machinery. 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift and work with various materials and/or tools, as well as work and bend at different heights, in various temperatures, and be on feet for an extended period of time.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Previous professional welding and fabrication experience required.
• Experience with GTAW (TIG) and one or more additional welding processes, such as SMAW or FCAW, preferred.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, weld symbols, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• Experience using fabrication tools, equipment, and precision measuring devices.
• Knowledge of applicable welding codes, standards, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Experience producing high-quality welds in a manufacturing, fabrication, pressure vessel, piping, or similar environment.
• Experience with ASME code welding and x-ray quality welds preferred.
• 6G GTAW and/or applicable dual-process welding experience preferred.
• AWS Welding Certification or other applicable welding certifications preferred.
