Technical Project Lead (TPL)

We are currently seeking a Technical Project Lead (TPL) for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This role is a temporary assignment (on a project basis) lasting 6 to 8 weeks in Fremont, CA, and requires on-site presence. PURPOSE: 
We are seeking experienced Technical Project Leads (TPLs) to support the installation, power-on, startup readiness, and production ramp-up of modular automated production equipment at an automotive manufacturing facility in Fremont, California.
The Technical Project Lead will coordinate onsite installation activities, contractors, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams while serving as a key point of contact for the customer. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical installation experience, leadership capabilities, and excellent customer-facing communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and coordinate the mechanical installation of modular production line equipment.
• Coordinate equipment leveling, alignment, mechanical assembly, and machine integration.
• Coordinate electrical installation activities following mechanical completion.
• Support equipment power-on, startup, and production readiness activities.
• Coordinate activities between contractors, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams.
• Interface with customer buyoff and EHS teams.
• Monitor installation progress, schedule adherence, quality, and issue resolution.
• Identify installation risks, delays, and technical issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Track punch-list items through completion and final customer acceptance.
• Prepare daily installation progress reports and weekly project status reports.
• Maintain installation issue and risk logs.
• Coordinate customer communication and buyoff activities.
• Support startup, power-on, production readiness, and production ramp-up through customer handoff.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety and EHS requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of technical education and relevant industrial experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating industrial equipment installations.
• in automotive manufacturing or automated production environments preferred..

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Strong mechanical and electrical installation knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with industrial machinery and automated production equipment.
• Strong leadership and onsite coordination skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple teams and installation activities.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Experience with project status reporting, issue tracking, and punch-list management.
• Strong commitment to safety, EHS compliance, and quality.
• Ability to work extended hours and a 7-day work schedule during the project Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and machine integration.
• Strong electrical installation and equipment power-on experience.
• Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams
• Experience in automotive manufacturing or automated production environments preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience with modular or pre-commissioned production equipment.
• Experience with equipment installation, power-on, commissioning, and startup.
• Automotive OEM or automotive manufacturing experience.
• Experience with automated production lines.
• Experience with customer buyoff and production acceptance processes.
• Experience working directly with EHS teams in manufacturing environments.
• Production ramp-up and customer handoff experience.
• Technical project management or project coordination experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:

• Location: Fremont, California – Onsite
• Schedule: Day shift, starting at 7:00 AM, weekend as required                                                                         Night shift support may be required during later project phases.
• Project duration: Approximately 6–8 weeks
• Overtime: as required
• Assignment Start: ASAP
