Better & Fairer Care. Always.

At St Vincent's, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As Australia's largest not-for-profit health and aged care provider, we are committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care and improving health outcomes for communities across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Guided by our values of Compassion, Justice, Integrity and Excellence, more than 30,000 employees come together each day to make a genuine difference. When you join St Vincent's, you'll become part of a purpose-driven organisation dedicated to shaping a better and fairer health and aged care system for all.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Payroll Officer to join our Group Payroll team. This is an exciting opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys delivering exceptional service while working as part of a collaborative national team.

As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and compliant end-to-end payroll services for more than 11,000 employees across multiple states. You will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid correctly, interpreting complex awards and enterprise agreements, and providing expert payroll advice to employees and managers.

Working within a supportive team environment, you'll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and customer service.

What You'll Do

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time for a large and complex workforce.

  • Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers, delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Interpret and apply payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and organisational policies.

  • Maintain payroll records and ensure employee data is accurate and up to date.

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and complex payroll queries.

  • Work collaboratively with Payroll, HR, Finance and operational stakeholders.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll processes and service delivery.

  • Meet critical payroll deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and customer-focused team culture.

About You

You are an experienced payroll professional with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have strong problem-solving skills and take pride in delivering accurate payroll outcomes.

You build positive relationships with stakeholders, communicate confidently and are always looking for ways to improve processes and deliver better outcomes.

Key Experience & Capability

  • 1-3 years' experience in a high-volume payroll environment.

  • Demonstrated experience processing end-to-end payroll accurately and efficiently.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and ATO requirements.

  • Experience working within complex and highly industrial environments.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve payroll issues.

  • Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience using payroll, time and attendance and ticketing systems.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, along with experience using Outlook and other payroll-related systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities while meeting strict payroll deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience within the healthcare, aged care or not-for-profit sector.

  • Experience using systems such as ADP, Kronos, TRIM, SharePoint or similar platforms.

  • Payroll qualifications or relevant payroll administration training.

Why St Vincent's?

  • Make a meaningful impact – Help strengthen payroll compliance and ensure our workforce receives accurate and reliable payroll services.

  • Work with purpose – Join a values-driven organisation guided by Compassion, Justice, Integrity and Excellence.

  • Drive improvement – Contribute to better payroll processes, systems and governance across a national organisation.

  • Enjoy great benefits – Access salary packaging, wellbeing initiatives, employee discounts and a range of additional benefits.

  • Be part of something bigger – Join a supportive payroll team committed to excellence and continuous improvement.
