Working Hours & Conditions: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Queensland Time and Australian Holidays
Employment: Full Time - Independent Contractor
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
The company is a dynamic, growth-oriented industry provider delivering specialized engineering and manufacturing solutions. Committed to precision, quality, and operational excellence, we partner closely with our clients to produce robust electrical and mechanical systems tailored to meet stringent performance benchmarks.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a detail-driven and highly proficient Mechanical & Electrical Drafter to join our team on a full-time, independent contractor basis. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, refining, and maintaining high-precision 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings for electrical cabinets, switchboards, and related assemblies.
Working in direct alignment with our core engineering operations during Australian business hours, the ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, exceptional drafting speed and accuracy, and a proactive mindset toward design integrity and document control.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manufacturing Drafting: Produce precise, manufacture-ready electrical cabinet and switchboard drawings, including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematic diagrams, panel layouts, termination diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Design Interpretation & Development: Accurately interpret client-supplied design inputs, specifications, sketches, legacy drawings, and equipment lists/BOMs to develop comprehensive technical drawings.
- Mechanical & Practical Layout Design: Design functional cabinet layouts, cable management systems, DIN rail configurations, and component clearances with practical manufacturing and assembly constraints in mind.
- Quality Assurance & Verification: Perform meticulous self-checks on all drafting outputs—verifying dimensions, component part numbers, quantities, ratings, wire tagging, and drawing revisions before release.
- Standards & Document Control: Strictly adhere to relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS) while maintaining standard drawing templates, title blocks, drawing registers, sheet numbering, and formal revision workflows.
