Description
The PowerDrive Systems business unit is responsible to deliver hybrid and full electric vehicle solutions to customers. The Senior System Engineer -System Functions is a recognized technical expert responsible for the customer communication, system concept development and coordination between development competencies of complex power electronic inverter systems, ensuring system-level robustness and contributing to technical excellence across projects. This role entails substantial responsibility for development of system functions, defects analysis and troubleshooting, technical decision-making and cross-functional coordination and customer interaction.
Key responsibilities
- Own the development and delivery of assigned system functions for HV inverter and electrified powertrain throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop robust system concepts and requirements considering quality, performance, cost, timing, and customer expectations.
- Lead technical discussions with customers and cross-functional teams, acting as the technical focal point for assigned functios.
- Drive teams for different competencies Hardware, Software, Calibration, Safety, and Test teams.
- Perform root cause analysis and define effective system-level solutions for technical issues and defects.
- Support Functional Safety activities, including Technical Safety Concepts, SFMEA, and FTA in accordance with ISO 26262.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to project teams.
- Report technical status, risks, and mitigation plans to engineering and project management.
- Participate in customer meetings, vehicle testing activities, and travel as required (up to 15%).
Expected Qualification and experience
- Master's degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive system development, preferably in HV Inverters, Power Electronics, or Electrified Powertrain Systems.
- Strong expertise in HV inverter functions, motor control strategies, and electric propulsion systems.
- Solid Systems Engineering background, including requirements development, architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
- Proven technical leadership, ownership, and ability to drive complex technical topics to successful completion.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and High Voltage (HV) Safety requirements.
- Experience working directly with automotive customers and managing technical stakeholder discussions.
- Excellent communication skills in English; German is desirable.
- Experience with Polarion, JIRA, Enterprise Architect, and MATLAB/Simulink is beneficial.

- Ability to influence, align, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple disciplines, organizations, and global locations.
