OUR ROLE
As Senior Merchandising Manager for IITTALA, you'll play a leading role in shaping the global product and merchandising strategy for one of Finland’s most iconic heritage brands. Leading and supporting a dedicated team of merchandising professionals, you will foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing environment where your team members feel inspired to grow and succeed. Together with your team, you'll translate consumer insights, market trends, and commercial data into compelling assortments that support sustainable growth, brand elevation, and commercial excellence. This role combines strategic thinking with strong analytical and commercial skills, requiring close collaboration with Design, Marketing, E-commerce, NPD, and market teams across Europe, North America, and APAC.

This role can be based in either Copenhagen, Denmark or Espoo, Finland.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
In this role, you’ll turn IITTALA’s global product and merchandising strategy into focused and commercially effective plans, supported by strong execution across markets. You’ll work across the product lifecycle, from long-term portfolio and assortment planning to pricing, launch, performance optimization, and end-of-life management, using data and insights to guide decisions and drive performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Iittala merchandising team, empowering them to deliver on strategic goals and grow professionally.
- Lead the development and execution of the global product and merchandising strategy for IITTALA, in alignment with the Merchandising Director.
- Define category vision, portfolio architecture, SKU optimization, and product lifecycle strategies.
- Lead core & seasonal assortment planning, ensuring collections reflect IITTALA’s DNA, brand ambition, consumer insights, and commercial opportunities.
- Identify category growth opportunities and translate consumer, market, and commercial insights into clear assortment recommendations and business cases.
- Translate merchandising strategy and portfolio opportunities into clear product development priorities, partnering with Design, NPD, and Marketing to shape the product roadmap.
- Define and manage category and collection targets, including revenue, margin, productivity, and SKU efficiency.
- Use forecasting, analytics, and performance data to drive merchandising decisions, pricing strategies, and corrective actions.
- Drive commercial launch readiness, providing clear global assortment direction to markets while balancing local needs and protecting brand coherence.
- Collaborate with Creative and Brand Marketing to ensure product stories are cohesive, compelling, and elevated across channels.
WHO YOU ARE
We're looking for an experienced merchandising professional who combines strategic thinking, strong commercial judgement, and a passion for product. You'll likely enjoy working with data, shaping assortments, and turning consumer and market insights into clear plans and actions. Most importantly, you're someone who can connect long-term strategy with day-to-day execution, make clear choices and trade-offs, and identify opportunities for growth. As a people manager, you are passionate about coaching others, building collaborative team dynamics, and leading with empathy and clarity. You are comfortable navigating complexity, can influence senior stakeholders, and build strong relationships across teams and markets. You bring energy, focus, and a strong sense of ownership to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
You'll likely have:
- A relevant university degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in merchandising, category management, or product strategy, ideally within premium or luxury consumer goods
- Proven experience in leading, coaching, and developing team members
- Strong portfolio thinking, analytical skills, commercial acumen, and financial literacy (including budgeting and P&L sensitivity)
- Experience using data & insights to guide global assortment planning, pricing, and lifecycle decisions
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and markets
- Experience working with design-led or heritage brands is an advantage
- A strategic, proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Fluency in English
