Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Alanna Watt)
Position Summary:
- Conducts research projects which include, processing rodent tissue for proteomics assays and electrophysiology experiments.
- Develops and conducts research projects and protocols, including: Image analysis and electrophysiology experiments.
- Assists with the development and execution of experiments, including mice colony management and tissue processing for proteomics assays.
- Performs data collection, test administration, planning/preparing documentation, and data compilation.
- Analyzes and interprets research data and disseminates the results, including: Immunohistochemistry assays, microscopy and image analysis.
- Performs various administrative tasks related to the lab projects Ex: filling-up milli-Q water, calibrating osmometer, refilling solutions, lab inventory, etc.
- May provide technical guidance and training to the new research staff.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple research activities simultaneously.
Education/Experience:
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience working with rodents.
- Experience in Immunohistochemistry.
Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
