Now Brewing – Senior Group Manager, Supply Chain Sourcing! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

In this role, you will lead and develop a high-performing sourcing team while shaping and executing sourcing strategies across Starbucks’ supply chain network. You will be responsible for transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution center operations, ocean transportation and related supply chain services. You will partner across Supply Chain, Global Logistics, Distribution Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal and Operations to build a resilient, scalable and cost-effective supply chain that supports enterprise growth, service and responsible business objectives.

As a Senior Group Manager, Supply Chain Sourcing, you will…

  • Lead and develop sourcing talent – Inspire, coach and develop partners through clear expectations, meaningful goals and purposeful performance and development conversations. Build organizational capability in strategic sourcing, logistics, negotiations, supplier management and industry knowledge.
  • Set enterprise supply chain sourcing strategy – Develop and execute multi-year category strategies for transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution center operations and enabling supply chain services. Align sourcing plans with network design, service levels, capacity requirements and growth objectives.
  • Lead transportation and global logistics sourcing – Build carrier and logistics-provider strategies across FTL, LTL, dedicated fleet, intermodal, freight brokerage, parcel and expedited services, ocean transportation / OTW, NVOCC and order management, and customs and trade services. Balance cost, service, capacity, coverage, continuity and risk.
  • Lead distribution, warehousing and 3PL sourcing – Source distribution centers, regional distribution centers, cross-dock operations, warehouse operations, material handling services, inventory management solutions and third-party logistics services. Support facility transitions, expansions and network transformations.
  • Drive strategic supplier management – Build executive relationships with critical logistics suppliers; establish commercial models, operating KPIs and scorecards; lead QBRs and performance governance; and drive supplier innovation, continuous improvement, remediation and escalation.
  • Architect value, resilience and responsible growth – Deliver savings, cost avoidance, productivity and total delivered cost improvements while protecting service and operational continuity. Incorporate contingency planning, risk mitigation, sustainability, supplier diversity and corporate social responsibility into sourcing decisions.
  • Lead commercial and cross-functional execution – Lead complex RFXs, negotiations and contracting. Develop robust business cases and answer-first executive recommendations. Partner across operations, finance, legal and supply chain, and ensure legal and operational compliance.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering, operations or a related field preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive strategic sourcing, logistics, supply chain or procurement experience
  • 5+ years leading sourcing or supply chain teams
  • Experience negotiating complex transportation, warehousing and logistics agreements
  • Experience managing executive-level supplier relationships

Skills & Capabilities

  • Leadership – Leads with humility and authenticity; creates clarity, builds trust, empowers partners, values diverse perspectives and prioritizes partner growth, inclusion and well-being.
  • Supply Chain & Logistics Expertise – Deep knowledge of transportation networks, FTL, LTL, ocean transportation / OTW, warehousing, distribution center operations, 3PL services, carrier economics, logistics cost drivers and supply chain risk mitigation.
  • Sourcing Foundations – Expert knowledge of category strategies, supplier relationship management, risk management, RFX processes, market analysis, should-cost models, commercial negotiations and standard legal protections.
  • Strategic Supplier Management – Builds executive supplier relationships and uses operating KPIs, scorecards, QBRs and governance to improve cost, service, quality, sustainability, innovation and risk performance.
  • Problem Solving & Agility – Assesses complex business situations, identifies options, makes structured decisions and drives disciplined execution in ambiguous and changing environments.
  • Teamwork & Executive Influence – Influences peers and senior leaders across functions and levels; creates cross-functional alignment around complex supply chain strategies and decisions.
