The Opportunity
Due to a strong pipeline of matters, we have an exciting and rewarding growth opportunity for a talented Senior Associate to join our growing Restructuring, Insolvency and Special Situations practice in Sydney.
Working closely with partner and national head of the Restructuring & Insolvency practice, Katie Higgins and other senior practitioners within a nationally collaborative team, you will play a key role in acting for global financial institutions, listed and multi-national companies, financiers and insolvency practitioners. You will act on a range of high profile restructuring matters including complex receiverships and workouts, complex financing arrangements, distressed debt, special situations, and corporate insolvency.
The multi-disciplinary nature of this practice gives you the opportunity to work with peers and partners in other teams across the firm.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years' PQE gained within a leading commercial law firm;
- Excellent academic performance;
- Experience in transactional banking or finance, with a desire to pivot expand your skillset into restructuring, would be highly regarded;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build client relationships and maintain a positive team environment;
- High quality and technically-sound drafting skills, with excellent attention to detail;
- A proactive and dedicated approach to client service, with strong time and project management skills; and
- Commitment to continuous learning in order to meet evolving client needs.
The Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group
The national Clayton Utz Restructuring and Insolvency team advises on all aspects of restructurings, insolvencies and special situations, and has been retained in lead roles in many of the most significant R&I matters in Australia.
The co-operative and multi-skilled nature of our group enables us to provide advice not just on the full spectrum of insolvency, recovery and special situations, but also on pre-insolvency complex restructurings that preserve the long-term value of businesses for creditors and stakeholders.
Our recent mandates include acting for the receivers and managers of ACFS Port Logistics; acting for the receivers and managers of Finley Solar Farm; acting for Westpac Banking Corporation (the largest senior secured lender) in the voluntary administration and receivership of Infinity Pharmacy Group; acting for the banking syndicate of Cranky Foods (owner of the "Manshake" brand); acting for Journey Beyond on multiple acquisition financings; acting for various secured creditors and counterparties in the Bathla voluntary administration; acting for Pro Medicus on its facility to 4DMedical and other structured financings.
