Senior General Accountant

You will manage general accounting and financial analysis activities with a focus on settlement and project accounting activities to support the Controllership function within the Finance team.

As a senior member of the Accounting team, you will handle first-level escalations, provide guidance to Analysts and Accountants, support the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, oversee fixed asset accounting activities, and contribute to accurate month-end close and financial reporting.

Location: You will be based in our Etobicoke office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Settlement and Project Accounting.

Posting Type: Replacement.

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $67,000 - $90,000.

Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

• Support the day-to-day operation of accounting activities of the Settlement and Project Accounting team.

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.

• Manage revenue recording and accounting, including preparation of month end journal.

• Prepare and review accounting entries, analyze account activity, and produce financial reports to support business stakeholders.

• Perform analysis of P&L and balance sheet accounts, including accruals, spending trends and variances, where applicable.

• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, and support enhancements to financial systems including D365.

• Assist the Manager in reviewing reconciliations and journals.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall team performance.

• Serve as the first point of escalation for accounting issues and provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders.

• Provide coaching and day-to-day support to Analysts and General Accountants.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• CPA designation.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading, coordinating, or delegating work within an accounting function.
• Experience supporting month-end closure and financial reporting deadlines.

Experience that would set you apart

• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX, Concur, and Medius.
