The Town of Marana is seeking a Communications Specialist to work in the Communications Division of the Town Manager’s Office. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in public information and social media management.

Expected Hiring Range: $59,576.74 - $74,470.92
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
Salary Range: $59,576.74 - $89,365.11
- Responsible for developing and distributing content through written, visual, and digital channels, including press releases, articles, speeches, social media, videos, photography, and graphic materials; Contributes to the planning and execution of communication campaigns, initiatives, and outreach activities.
- Manages assigned communication projects, ensuring clarity, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of message and brand; Collaborates across departments to gather information, translate complex topics into accessible content, and shape compelling narratives.
- May serve as back-up Public Information Officer in support of emergency communications and media coordination.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. (Additional relevant professional experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.)
- Three or more years of experience in a marketing or communications role or closely related field.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Arizona Driver License.
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
- Candidates must also submit 2 writing samples that demonstrate their style and strengths. Samples can include essays, articles, etc. from a professional or educational setting.

- A long-form written sample containing a maximum of 900 words.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Administration or in a closely related field.
- Experience working in the Public Sector.
- Experience with social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms in a professional setting.
- Has written published articles and materials in a professional setting.
- Must have good analytical judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Must have advanced writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to write grammatically correct, compelling, on-brand, and platform-appropriate communications across multi-channel platforms (digital, print, social, etc.).
- Ability to plan, implement, and manage a strategy for generating content on the Marana Newsroom and on available social media platforms.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively in a diverse team environment.
