About this opportunity:
Are you interested in improving how external service providers become ready to support Ericsson projects and managed services?
This master’s thesis focuses on the onboarding process for Approved Service Providers (ASPs). The study will map the current process from onboarding initiation through supplier, member, technical, safety, access, training, and project readiness activities. It will investigate how multiple systems, handovers, approvals, data requirements, and exception paths influence lead time and process variation.
By benchmarking Ericsson’s approach with comparable industries such as telecom, IT managed services, engineering, construction, utilities, and technical field services, the thesis will identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and better integrate the onboarding journey while maintaining compliance, security, quality, and occupational health and safety requirements.
What you will do:
- Map the current ASP onboarding process, roles, systems, handovers, and exception paths
- Analyse a sample of onboarding cases, including lead time, waiting time, rework, and delays
- Identify the main bottlenecks and causes of process variation
- Benchmark supplier onboarding practices in three to five comparable industries
- Develop a target-state onboarding process and improvement opportunities
- Define KPIs for lead time, first-time-right, automation, exceptions, and readiness
- Recommend a prioritized roadmap to reduce onboarding lead time and improve transparency
The skills you bring:
- Strong process-analysis and academic research skills
- Interest in sourcing, supplier management, operations, and digital transformation
- Experience with Lean, process mapping, BPMN, process mining, or service design is an advantage
- Ability to analyse structured data and conduct stakeholder interviews
- Understanding of procurement, compliance, quality, or supplier-readiness processes is useful
- Ability to communicate clearly with business, technical, and external stakeholders
- Curiosity, structured problem-solving, and a practical improvement mindset
