As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Strategic Account Manager to join our sales team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced account management professional who enjoys developing long-term customer relationships, understanding customer needs, and delivering sustainable account growth through exceptional service and partnership.

The Role

As Strategic Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of key customer accounts across the Midlands and South. Working closely with customers and internal teams, you will act as a trusted partner, ensuring MLA continues to deliver outstanding value, service, and innovation to its customers.

Success in this role comes from building strong stakeholder relationships, identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts, and ensuring customers receive the highest levels of support and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Account Development & Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Understand customer objectives, challenges, and requirements to identify opportunities for growth and partnership.
  • Create and implement strategic account plans to maximise account performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for designated customer accounts.

Account Growth & Commercial Performance

  • Drive revenue growth within existing accounts through effective account planning and customer engagement.
  • Deliver against agreed sales targets and account objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer use of MLA products and services.
  • Monitor account performance and provide regular business reviews and insights to customers and senior management.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with procurement teams, operational leaders, and key decision-makers.
  • Navigate public sector procurement processes and support framework and tender activities.
  • Ensure customers are informed of product developments, innovations, and service improvements.
  • Represent MLA professionally during customer visits, meetings, and industry events.

Collaboration & Customer Success

  • Work closely with internal teams including Marketing, Production, Product Development, and Leadership to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Champion the voice of the customer within the business.
  • Provide market, customer, and competitor feedback to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.

About You

  • 3–5 years' experience in Account Management, Strategic Account Management, or a similar customer-facing commercial role.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong track record of growing and retaining customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and align solutions to deliver mutual success.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Collaborative approach with a genuine desire to support customers and colleagues.
  • Commercially aware with a focus on delivering long-term value and sustainable growth.
  • Self-motivated, professional, and committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Experience working with larger organisations and Public Sector customers would be advantageous.
