Manager, Compliance

What is the opportunity?

As Manager, Compliance, you will be responsible for assisting Head of WM Compliance Asia and Singapore (“Head of Compliance”) in respect of compliance and regulatory issues to support WM Singapore (“WM SG”) business. You will keep abreast of regulatory developments and trends in banking, securities and financial advisory services business to assess impact on the business, and any procedural changes required, and advise and update business/other functions and all relevant employees on a timely basis.

What will you do?

• Provide timely regulatory and compliance advice and updates to front office and support functions; ensure that the WM SG business is equipped to meet all relevant regulatory requirements impacting it.
• Review, assess, broadcast and advise on applicable regulatory changes to the business and functions in SG; work with other business & support functions on gap analyses where required.
• Assist in advising on, drafting, review, updating and implementing Compliance policies and procedures including aligning these with HK and assist in formulating Asia-wide policies/procedures as required.
• Assist in preparing training materials on relevant compliance topics; conduct compliance training.
• Assist to maintain the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) programme in accordance with relevant local laws and regulations and Global RBC compliance standards; review of compliance monitoring and testing procedures; conduct compliance monitoring in accordance with RCM programme.
• Assist in preparing and coordination of Compliance-related management reporting for review by Head of Compliance.
• Follow up with MAS on routine enquiries, facilitate regulatory inspections, provide compliance support for external and internal audits, and ensure appropriate escalation and resolution of issues identified.
• Support Head of Compliance in managing regulatory relationships, ensure that regulatory notifications are filed accurately and on a timely basis as required, prepare coordinate and review responses to regulatory inquiries, regulatory consultation papers, etc.
• Review of and advice on new and existing products and services, including marketing material and other material.
• Participate in and provide support to global, regional and WM SG projects as may be required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Degree or equivalent is required.
• The role would typically require 7 years of compliance-related experience within a financial institution, regulator and/or other comparable environment, preferably in the private banking sector.
• Experience in dealing directly with regulators and auditors, strong understanding of SG/MAS rules and regulations, preferably private banking specific.
• Strong technical knowledge of local banking, securities & futures, and financial advisory services regulations.
• Strategic thinking and solution orientation with ability to accept accountability, assume pro-active leadership, demonstrate initiative, and lead by example in teamwork, across-unit cooperation, information sharing.
• Strong attention to detail as well as ability to give a more strategic overview of regulatory issues, with support.
• Able to proactively manage and meet deadlines and work within a dynamic and fast paced team setup.
• Good inter-personal and communication skills.

Nice-to-have

• Compliance diploma or other equivalent qualification is an advantage.
