Director of Education – Hospice

About the Position

Capital Hospice & Palliative Care LLC is seeking an experienced Director of Education to lead clinical education, new-hire orientation, competency training, and ongoing staff development for our hospice team.

This is a hybrid office and field-based position. The Director will provide education in the office and accompany clinical staff in patient homes and healthcare facilities to provide hands-on training, evaluate competencies, and support quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct new-hire orientation and clinical training.
• Provide ongoing education on hospice care, documentation, safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Accompany nurses, CNAs, and other clinical staff during field visits.
• Evaluate clinical competencies and provide coaching and remediation.
• Develop and maintain competency checklists and training records.
• Provide education related to pain and symptom management, medication management, care planning, and patient safety.
• Identify training needs through chart reviews, field observations, incidents, and quality improvement activities.
• Assist with QAPI activities, regulatory compliance, accreditation preparation, and survey readiness.
• Work closely with the Administrator, Clinical Director, Clinical Managers, and Quality Assurance team.
• Develop educational materials, presentations, competency tools, and in-service programs.
• Maintain accurate employee education and competency documentation.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Hospice or home health experience strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in clinical education, staff development, precepting, or nursing management preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Strong teaching, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in both office and field environments.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and required auto insurance.
