About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Human Resource Consultant to join our national HR Claims Team to support our business partners within the Ontario region!

In this role, you will provide strategic consulting and coaching to various levels of leadership, with a focus on employee relations, talent planning and change management. This is truly a unique and exciting opportunity for an HR professional who would like to take their consulting knowledge and expertise to the next level in the largest line of business at Intact!

What we are looking for:

  • Business Savvy:  You believe in collaboration, know how to build relationships, influence and coach while working towards the company goals and objectives.  Are strategic by nature and thrive in an ever- changing environment.
  • A Team Player: You believe that together everyone achieves more — that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others' candid feedback for continuous improvement. Skilled at collaboration, you thrive at working independently while building strong, remote relationships with national HR team members in our other locations.
  • Adaptable: You have the ability to juggle multiple priorities and change focus at a moment’s notice while keeping a close eye on the details.
  • A Fast Learner: You thrive in a customer centric, dynamic, ever-evolving, fast-paced environment.

Here are a few ways you'll make a difference:

  • Actively participate in leadership meetings with respective business partners and ensure all decisions and practices align with our business strategies, change management and IFC values.
  • Responsible for employee relations and performance matters end-to-end, ensuring fair, consistent outcomes and strong risk management; coach leaders to build confidence and capability.
  • Actively partner with the respective business group in building the engagement plan(s) using data/insights (engagement results, attrition, ER trends) to target root causes and drive forward the employee experience.
  • Play a key role in organizational transformations, anticipate issues and propose approaches to encourage support for effective change management.
  • Drive talent, succession, and leadership development strategies (talent reviews, succession plans, targeted development), strengthening bench strength for all roles.
  • Participate in various (integrity or respect in the workplace) investigations and coach leaders on conflict resolution best practices as required.
  • Lead, develop and facilitate workshops, round tables and information sessions for managers and/or employees.
  • Lead or participate in national and/or strategic HR projects that contribute to our ongoing organizational transformation and HR process improvement.
  • Utilize market research and internal data analysis to anticipate business needs and craft proactive strategies for enhanced value-add HR partnership.

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a human resources specialization or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of related experience as a senior HR Consultant (HRC), HR Business Partner (HRBP) or as a generalist in human resources in a non-unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated passion to work within a highly collaborative environment with a focus on employee relations. Technical, up-to-date expertise in Human Resources management and employment legislation.
  • Proven ability to quickly establish and cultivate effective working relationships with business partners at various levels of the organization, in a dynamic ever-changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Proven track record of critical and strategic thinking to solve operational and / or complex problems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in all areas of human resources including employee relations, talent management, performance management, disability management, change management, engagement, compensation, organizational development, workforce planning and succession planning.
