Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the close direction of the Application Development Manager, the Associate Full-Stack Engineer - Custom assists in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of applications. This entry-level position focuses on learning fundamental software development practices, gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle, and developing skills in both front-end and back-end technologies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in coding and implementing small features and bug fixes under the supervision of senior developers, occasionally using AI‑assisted coding tools when appropriate.
• Participates in code reviews to learn best practices, coding standards, and responsible use of AI‑generated code.
• Works on assigned tasks within well‑defined project scope and requirements, leveraging AI tools for research or prototype generation when applicable.
• Writes basic unit tests to verify code functionality, including using AI tools to suggest test cases under guidance.
• Documents work clearly and maintains accurate records in tracking tools, including documenting any AI-assisted contributions.
• Participate in team meetings and daily stand-ups, providing updates on assigned tasks and raising opportunities to use AI to improve workflow efficiency.
• Seeks guidance and asks questions to overcome obstacles and develop technical and AI‑related skills.
• Maintains awareness of software development and AI best practices, staying current with team technologies and emerging AI innovations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Zero (0) to one (1) year of experience in software development, system design, or cloud deployments (including internships, co-op experience, or relevant coursework).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong expertise in:
  • Appian SAIL (UI design)
  • Process Modeling (BPMN)
  • Record Types and Data Fabric
  • Integrations (REST/SOAP APIs)

• Foundational understanding of web technologies and software development concepts.
• Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
• Skill in basic debugging and problem-solving.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Willingness to receive feedback and continuously improve skills.

DESIRABLE

• Basic understanding of Appian low‑code development concepts, including interfaces, process models, records, and data types.
• Ability to navigate Appian Designer and work with standard Appian components under guidance.
• Familiarity with building or modifying simple Appian applications, forms, or workflow automations.
• Understanding of Appian best practices for application design, performance, and maintainability.
• Willingness to learn Appian development, Appian SAIL, Appian integrations, and Appian DevOps processes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
