WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC
Our Billing Specialists work as a part of FCMC’s Business Office to conduct billing functions and facilitate collection on patient accounts. More specifically, these important responsibilities include:
- Billing assigned inpatient, outpatient, ER, nursing home, and swing bed accounts, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Second Billings
- Following up when necessary to ensure collection
- Communicating with insurance companies on unpaid claims to obtain a settlement of claims
- Making recommendations for adjustments to those accounts as needed
- Assisting patients in the billing process by answering questions and researching and solving problems
- Assisting other billers and other billers’ patients when requested
- Generating required reports
- Staying up to date on billing methods
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one to two years of billing experience
- Additional training in accounting or the medical field is preferred
- Computer literacy, including accounting software and spreadsheets
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and conduct statistical analysis
- Good communication skills, both written and oral, in the English language
- Facilitation skills to support and work cooperatively with staff, patients, and external parties
Essential Job Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
- Regularly required to sit, bend, stoop, and stretch
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, copy machine, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment
- Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight
- Occasionally requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds
- Must comply with HIPAA policies
- Must wear PPE as required to maintain infection control standards
Work Environment:
- FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year: operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
- This role is performed in typical office conditions with a low noise level
