Job Description
We are looking for a Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex General Ledger accounting activities, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving process improvements across assigned markets or entities.The position requires a strong accounting background, very good analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to cooperate effectively with internal stakeholders, auditors, and other finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage General Ledger accounting activities for assigned entities or markets.
- Prepare and post manual and complex journal entries.
- Own balance sheet accounts end-to-end, including reconciliations, analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies, including intercompany differences.
- Support statutory reporting, financial statements, audits, and internal control activities.
- Prepare reports, reconciliations, and financial analysis as required.
- Cooperate closely with internal departments, stakeholders, auditors, and external partners.
- Support tax, statistical, and other external reporting activities where applicable.
- Identify recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and propose improvements.
- Support process standardization, automation, and transformation initiatives.
- Participate in system, reporting, and process changes, including testing and transition activities.
- Provide guidance and knowledge support to junior team members.
- Act as a backup within the team when required.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, service level agreements, group policies, and applicable legal requirements.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Several years of professional experience in General Ledger accounting, preferably in an SSC/BPO or multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
- Very good MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of HFM, BlackLine, or similar reporting/reconciliation tools would be an advantage.
- Good understanding of internal controls and audit requirements.
- Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of the local language of the supported market would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Accuracy, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines.
