Position Summary:
The Operations Senior Analyst, RCM Transformation, plays a key role in advancing revenue cycle operations and supporting the development of enhanced service offerings. This RCM Optimization Pilot role focuses on resolving claims and unpostables, analyzing operational performance, and contributing to pilot initiatives that inform scalable solutions. The analyst collaborates across teams to improve workflows, support product strategy, and contributes with innovative thinking to help define ‘what’s next’ for RCM services. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, balances execution with exploration, and follows established playbooks while actively helping write the next version of them. This is a hybrid role based in the United States and reports to the RCM Transformation Senior Manager.
About the Team:
The RCM Transformation team is focused on improving revenue cycle outcomes through operational innovation and scalable solutions. The team partners closely with Product, Service Operations, and Customer Success to test and refine new service models. They support pilot programs that inform long-term strategy and enhance customer experience. Insights generated from hands-on operational work directly inform long-term strategy, product decisions, and customer experience improvements. The team leverages operational data, system tools, and cross-functional collaboration to influence and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Independently resolve a broad range of claims and unpostables with accuracy and efficiency for RCM Optimization Pilot customers, following practice directives where available while exercising judgment in ambiguous scenarios
Use internal systems and tools (i.e., athenaOne navigation, access to payer portals, etc.) to manage claims workflows and complete operational tasks
Analyze incoming and completed work to identify root causes and recommend process improvements
Adapt to evolving workflows and support new, untried, and evolving processes as part of pilot initiatives
Participate in pilot program activities including workflow documentation, validation of new processes, customer discussions, and operational readiness assessments
Use available AI-enabled tools (such as workflow automation, data summarization, or pattern identification tools) to increase efficiency, support analysis, and continuously learn new tools that enhance daily work
Additional Job Responsibilities:
Support documentation of processes and workflows for pilot programs
Assist with preparing materials for stakeholder updates and presentations
Provide input on scaling pilot program operations
Contribute to knowledge sharing across the team
Support ad hoc operational or analytical requests as needed
Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
Assist in testing and validating new tools or workflows
Expected Education & Experience:
3+ years of experience in athenahealth revenue cycle management, claims processing, or healthcare operations
Experience resolving claims or unpostables in athenahealth settings
Familiarity with medical billing processes and payer interactions
Strong command of athenaOne navigation and functionality, or ability to quickly develop deep system expertise
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate data and identify trends
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to self-manage workload and competing priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences and senior leaders
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred
Experience working in cross-functional environments preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
Expected Compensation
$42,000 - $72,000The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
