About the Role:
Hastings Deering is on the hunt for a motivated HEF Technical Trainer with strong operational and training experience. In this role, you will not only develop and deliver technical training programs but utilise your practical experience maintaining Caterpillar machinery to teach, coach and demonstrate safe, productive techniques and practices. Your background in the mining and/or construction sectors and commitment to continuous improvement will support high‑quality outcomes for our internal teams and customers. Reporting to the Learning Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Deliver state-of-the-art technical training packages to our workforce and customers.
- Facilitate a safe, positive and open learning experience for all learners protecting the Hastings Deering brand and reputation.
- Stay up to date on the latest advancements and technologies in Caterpillar equipment.
- Research, develop/manufacture and maintain training aids, visual aids and other items to support and enhance the learning experience.
- Role model and demonstrate oneHD values and behaviour both internally and externally.
- As required, this role also provides support to the broader Learning Capability team in the delivery of both Operator and Apprentice training including internal non-accredited programs and courses.

About You:
We are looking for someone with impeccable work ethic who likes to learn, seize opportunities and take responsibility for achieving excellence whilst working as part of a great team. A successful applicant will have:
- A minimum of 8–10 years' experience in the maintenance of Caterpillar equipment, including Dozers, Hydraulic Shovels, Haul Trucks, Graders, Excavators, Loaders, Wheel Dozers, Backhoes, and Gensets, is essential.
- Certificate III in Heavy Earthmoving or an equivalent trade qualification is required.
- Relevant post trade experience within the surface or underground mining industry, construction and heavy earthmoving.
- Experience as a Trainer and/or Assessor is essential.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a technical trainer role or similar.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently to regional areas.
