Description

Your job is more than a job.

When you got your first “Operation” game as a kid, you may not have realized that being part of a surgical team was somewhere in your future. Fast forward a few years—and a nursing education—and you now understand that caring for a patient before, during, and after surgery is so much more than a game.

As an Outpatient Surgery Center Registered Nurse, you know that every procedure, every patient, and every detail matters. Your expert clinical and technical skills are essential, but you also understand that teamwork, communication, and compassion are just as important. In the fast-paced surgical environment, you serve as a critical connection between the patient, surgeon, anesthesiologist, and the entire interdisciplinary care team.

From preparing patients for surgery and ensuring a safe, sterile environment to providing exceptional care throughout the perioperative experience and supporting patients through recovery and discharge, you are there every step of the way.

We think you’re kind of cool and would like to welcome you to the real deal operating room and outpatient surgery environment, where precision, teamwork, responsibility, and everyday extraordinary happen. You’re going to love it here—and we know there’s no one quite like you.

Your experience. Your clinical knowledge. Your technical skills. Your empathy. Your compassion. Your ability to remain calm under pressure. Your personality. All of it adds up to you—and we’re excited to see what you’ll bring to this critical nursing role.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative experience, including pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative care.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and procedural interventions by completing assessments, reviewing medical histories, verifying consents, confirming procedure readiness, and ensuring appropriate patient education.
  • Serve as a circulating and/or scrub nurse, supporting surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team during a variety of procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment while adhering to infection prevention practices, surgical safety standards, and established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate exceptional patient care.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and patient while demonstrating strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Provide post-operative care, education, and discharge instructions to patients and their families, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next steps in their recovery.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Participate in maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the Operating Room and Outpatient Surgery Center.
  • Support a culture of safety by participating in time-outs, surgical counts, handoffs, and other patient safety initiatives.
  • Assist with emergency situations and demonstrate the ability to remain composed, organized, and responsive under pressure.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients and their families throughout the surgical experience.
  • Maintain current knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, technology, and evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members to identify opportunities for process improvement, quality outcomes, and an exceptional patient experience.
