Your role at Clorox:
The Sanitation Technician supports daily cleaning and sanitation activities at the Reno, NV manufacturing facility to help maintain a safe, clean, and compliant production environment. This position works closely with Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to execute sanitation procedures, support food safety requirements, and maintain compliance with cGMP and regulatory standards. The role performs cleaning, sanitation, inspections, documentation, and verification activities while following established procedures and work instructions. The Sanitation Technician plays an important role in protecting product safety and quality through effective sanitation execution and attention to detail.In this role, you will:
Sanitation Operations – 60%
- Perform daily plant cleaning and sanitation activities in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Execute cleaning procedures for production equipment, processing areas, and facility surfaces.
- Complete assigned tasks within the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
- Perform pre-operational inspections and support environmental monitoring activities as assigned.
- Accurately complete sanitation documentation and cleaning records.
- Safely handle and use sanitation chemicals according to established procedures.
- Identify and report sanitation, equipment, or facility concerns to supervision.
2. Food Safety and Compliance – 20%
- Follow GMPs, food safety requirements, and sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs).
- Support sanitation verification and validation activities as directed.
- Maintain compliance with plant, customer, and regulatory sanitation standards.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action activities as requested.
3. Teamwork and Operational Support – 15%
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support plant operations.
- Assist with equipment setup, teardown, and cleaning activities.
- Communicate sanitation concerns, completed work, and shift handoff information to supervisors and team members.
- Support training efforts by sharing knowledge and following standard work practices.
4. Food Safety Culture – 5%
- Promote a strong food safety culture by recognizing that food safety is everyone's responsibility.
- Communicate food safety, quality, and sanitation concerns promptly.
- Support compliance with food safety, GMP, and sanitation requirements throughout the facility
What we look for:
Years and Type of Experience
- Minimum:
- 1 year of experience in food manufacturing, warehouse, janitorial, sanitation, or related industrial work environment.
- Previous sanitation or cleaning experience preferred
- Fluent in English communication (verbal, written, and reading).
- Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or GED
- Desirable:
- 2–3 years of experience in food manufacturing sanitation.
- Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, sanitation equipment, and food safety practices.
- Familiarity with GMPs, food safety requirements, and sanitation procedures.
- Experience completing sanitation documentation and records.
- Understanding of FDA or food manufacturing regulatory requirements
- Additional training or certifications related to food safety, sanitation, or manufacturing operations
