CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Research Support provides program support to facilitate research. Furthermore, the incumbent oversees research operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with applicable regulations.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases.

• Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures and ensures all research is undertaken according to best practices.

• Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students.

• Conducts meetings with research and other staff, outside agencies, and other applicable organizations and ensures functions are coordinated in a timely and accurate manner.

• Provides technical and program support and resolves operational problems.

• Assists in the preparation and publication of manuscripts and other program-related documents and reports.

• Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions.

• Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

DEPARTMENT SPECIFICS:

The SDG Research Manager will ensure the effective implementation of the SDG-based review model, supports feasibility workflows, and facilitates coordination of review processes among the 14 SDGs, faculty reviewers, and clinical research stakeholders across Sylvester Cancer Center

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operational coordination across 14 Scientific Disease Groups (SDGs)

• Coordinate protocol routing, scheduling, and review activities to ensure timely and efficient protocol evaluations.
• Serve as primary operational liaison between Population Sciences, SDG faculty leaders, Sylvester clinicians, and clinical operations teams
• Facilitate communication across multiple stakeholders to ensure timely and coordinated reviews

• Identify workflow bottlenecks, coordinate issue resolution, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Monitor protocol movement across SDG review stages
• Maintain tracking systems to ensure visibility of workload and timelines
• Identify delays and implement corrective actions to support timely protocol activation
• Develop reports and provide operational updates to leadership regarding SDG review activities, workload trends, and key performance indicators.
