Mō te tūranga | About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to sit at the centre of one of Westpac New Zealand’s most dynamic and strategically important business areas - Data, Digital and AI (DDAI).
As Senior Manager Business Management, you’ll help enable the effective and seamless operation of our DDAI business. Acting as a trusted adviser to the Chief DDAI Officer and Leadership Team, you’ll translate strategic priorities into clear plans, high-quality advice and disciplined execution.
This is a broad and influential role for someone who can see the big picture while ensuring the right governance, planning, reporting and business rhythms are in place. You’ll connect activity across leadership, finance, people, risk, strategy, communications and operations, providing an integrated view of priorities, performance, risks and dependencies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the integrated business management rhythm across DDAI, including governance, planning, reporting, prioritisation and follow-through
- Acting as a central conduit between the Chief DDAIP Officer, Leadership Team, business partners and the wider DDAIP team
- Coordinating executive and governance forums, forward plans, decision records and action tracking in partnership with the Executive Assistant
- Developing high-quality executive, Board and governance papers that provide clear analysis, context and recommendations
- Providing an integrated view of business performance, priorities, risks, issues and dependencies
- Driving cross-functional initiatives on behalf of the Chief DDAIP Officer and Leadership Team
- Supporting strategic planning, budgeting, workforce processes, engagement planning and enterprise reporting
- Identifying opportunities to simplify ways of working, improve effectiveness and strengthen accountability.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
You'll bring significant experience in business management, governance, strategy, operations or a comparable cross-functional leadership role within a large and complex organisation. You will have strong strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate strategy into coordinated action and outcomes. Your exceptional written communication skills will enable you to produce high-quality executive and Board-level papers, presentations and recommendations.
You will be comfortable working across multiple disciplines, bringing structure and clarity to complex priorities while managing ambiguity and competing demands. With highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills, you'll build trusted relationships with senior leaders and business partners, using strong analytical capability and sound judgement to provide meaningful insights and navigate complex or sensitive matters. A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
