Job Summary
The Graduate Research Assistant will work under supervision in the Bilingual Learning, Education, and Neural Development (BLEND) Lab and will be responsible for assisting in leading and managing the assigned research project focused on understanding the neurodevelopmental trajectory for multiplication fact learning in bilingual children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect high-quality Electroencephalography (EEG) data from child participants.
- Assist with data management and perform basic statistical analyses.
- Administer standardized assessment and evaluation instruments.
- Participate in recruitment activities with the goal of involving children and their families in research.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Enrolled full-time in the Master’s of Science in Psychology program at TAMIU.
- Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 3.0 for graduate students.
- Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Preferred Experience and Education
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology or related discipline
- Some experience with EEG data collection
- Some experience administering standardized assessments measuring cognitive skills
- Some experience using PsychoPy or related stimulus presentation tool
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
- Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Other Requirements
- Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions, reporting to the Bilingual Learning, Education, and Neural Development Lab (PLG 208).
- Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
- Work schedules are based on research needs but will ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
- Promptly complete all required training.
- Submit time sheet biweekly.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Subject to funding and/or need.
Pay of Rate: $18.50/hour for up to 10 hours weekly
