Market Research Analyst
Location: Chennai / Trivandrum | Reports to: Director of Market Intelligence
Zafin is an AI platform company for regulated institutions. Built from more than 20 years of operating in demanding regulated technology environments, Zafin brings structure, intelligence and accountability to how critical work, systems and decisions are created, governed and improved.
Zafin's portfolio includes Zafin AIOS, the end-to-end agent orchestration platform and control plane for governed agentic work; Zafin Banking Platform, the AI-powered banking execution platform for product, pricing, offers, billing, loyalty, relationship and deal logic; and Zafin IO the integration platform for connecting data, events, services, workflows and applications across regulated enterprise environments.
Together, they reflect Zafin’s core discipline: helping institutions move faster while preserving governance, evidence, control and accountability.
Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Zafin serves institutions across North America, EMEA and Asia-Pacific.
What's the opportunity?
We are seeking a Market Research Analyst to join Zafin’s Market Intelligence team, reporting to the Director of Market Intelligence.
Market research at Zafin is built around systems — agents, workflows, and automations that allow a focused team to continuously monitor and understand a market far larger than its headcount. In this role, you will work within that research stack, improve and extend it, and apply strong analytical judgment to the information it produces.
Both dimensions of the role matter. Automation can accelerate research, but it cannot replace disciplined source evaluation, commercial understanding or sound interpretation. You will be responsible for running the machinery and applying the judgment required to produce reliable, decision-ready intelligence.
The work sits close to business decisions. Your research will help shape what Zafin builds, how we position and communicate our platforms, and how our sales teams identify and pursue opportunities.
What will you do?
- Run and improve AI-enabled research workflows: Work with Zafin’s existing research agents and workflows across sourcing, extraction, synthesis and brief generation. Maintain continuous coverage of priority markets and improve the system as new needs and gaps emerge.
- Automate research intake: Build and maintain pipelines that ingest analyst reports (Gartner, Forrestor, Celent), earnings calls, regulatory filings, annual reports and other relevant market sources, identifying what has changed and why it matters.
- Validate AI-generated research: Test outputs against primary and trusted sources for accuracy, grounding and citation integrity. Identify where automation is drifting, producing incomplete conclusions or introducing unsupported claims, and improve the workflow.
- Track competitors and market activity: Monitor competitor positioning, product and feature releases, partnerships, acquisitions and go-to-market activity. Automate information collection while providing the analysis and interpretation.
- Develop strategic account intelligence: Create automated first-pass profiles of target institutions, including their technology environments, strategic priorities, pain points, transformation initiatives and potential buying triggers. Refine the research for priority pursuits.
- Translate trends into business implications: Turn industry, regulatory, technology and competitive signals into clear briefs for product, marketing, sales and executive audiences.
- Support go-to-market initiatives: Contribute market sizing, segmentation, buyer insights, competitive positioning and supporting evidence for launches, campaigns and strategic initiatives.
- Build reusable research capabilities: Develop automations, templates and tools that can be used across marketing and market intelligence workflows. Prioritize scalable capabilities over one-time solutions.
- Identify opportunities for further automation: Recognize repetitive or inefficient research processes and propose practical ways to automate or improve them.
- Create executive-ready presentations: Turn complex research into clear narratives, presentations and recommendations for technical, commercial and executive stakeholders.
- Facilitate decision-making: Lead working sessions that help stakeholders understand the evidence, navigate ambiguity and move toward informed decisions.
What do you need to succeed?
Must haves:
- Bachelor’s or master's in marketing, business, economics, computer science, or a related field (BA/B.Sc/B.Tech).
- Two to five years of experience in market research, competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy consulting or a related analytical role.
- Experience working within a Big Four firm, strategy consulting firm, market research organization, analyst firm or technology company is preferred.
Core skills
- Strong understanding of competitive intelligence, market intelligence and go-to-market research practices, including competitor tracking, market sizing, battlecards, win/loss analysis and analyst report monitoring.
- Hands-on experience using AI to build research workflows, agentic processes, multi-tool automations or no-code AI agents, beyond basic prompting.
- Comfort using AI-native development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or similar platforms to prototype scripts, automations or lightweight internal tools, even without a formal software engineering background.
- Strong ability to read, evaluate and synthesize long, complex reports accurately and efficiently.
- Strong research judgment, including the ability to distinguish credible evidence from unsupported conclusions and verify AI-generated outputs against original sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex findings for technical, commercial and executive audiences.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the confidence to lead stakeholders through ambiguity toward a decision.
- Experience working with data-analysis tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI or similar platforms.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, including the ability to work with incomplete, inconsistent or unstructured data from multiple sources.
- A builder mindset and a demonstrated interest in creating repeatable systems rather than relying only on manual processes.
- Ability to learn new tools quickly and remain effective as the AI technology landscape continues to evolve.
Nice to have:
- MBA or postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution.
- Experience in banking, financial services, enterprise technology or another regulated industry.
- Familiarity with banking technology, enterprise software, AI governance, agentic AI, integration platforms or legacy modernization.
- Experience working with commercial analyst research from firms such as Gartner, Forrester, Celent, IDC or similar organizations.
- Experience developing market or account intelligence for enterprise sales teams.
- Familiarity with APIs, workflow automation platforms, data extraction tools or retrieval-augmented generation systems.
- Experience presenting research and recommendations to senior leadership.
