Requirements Manager
About the Role
Requirements Manager contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to design, manage interfaces, and prepare the documentation needed for installation, test and placing in service approvals. Its specific contribution is to maintain requirements baseline, allocation, traceability matrix and requirement-change impact assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Define requirements management plan, taxonomy, attributes, baseline rules, traceability model and change workflow.
Manage capture, clarification, decomposition, allocation and verification-method assignment across all systems.
Coordinate requirement reviews with engineering, safety, RAM, cybersecurity, quality, IVVQ and customer stakeholders.
Maintain traceability between requirements, design outputs, tests, deviations, non-compliances and acceptance evidence.
Report requirement gaps, conflicts, open clarifications and verification status to engineering Governance.
Apply the Hitachi Code of Conduct in role-specific decisions, including ethical escalation, anti-bribery discipline, confidentiality, data protection, fair supplier/customer conduct and transparent records.
Maintain requirements baseline, allocation, traceability matrix and requirement-change impact assessment.
Owns requirements baseline discipline and traceability.
Can reject uncontrolled requirement changes and escalate requirement-impact issues.
Key Interfaces
Engineering Manager, Solution Engineering Manager, IVVQ Manager, Work Package Leaders and Configuration & Defect Manager.
Safety, RAM, Cybersecurity, Quality, O&M, Human Factors and T&C teams.
Customer requirements owners and supplier requirement managers.
Design reviews.
Baseline/change reviews.
Readiness and acceptance evidence reviews.
Authority & Accountability
Accountable for requirements baseline integrity and traceability quality.
Authorised to reject untraceable evidence, request clarification and escalate unresolved requirement conflicts.
Requirements changes must follow configuration/change Governance; the role manages impact visibility.
Mandate
Maintain a controlled requirement-to-evidence thread that supports acceptance and prevents unmanaged scope interpretation.
Skills & Experience
Requirements management experience in rail, infrastructure, defence, aerospace or software-intensive systems.
Competence with requirements tools, traceability, baselines and verification planning.
Ability to detect ambiguity and drive clarification before delivery impact.
Resilience and resistance to stress during baseline freezes, verification gaps and customer comment cycles.
Analytical precision and disciplined change-control mindset.
More than 5–7 years in requirements management and traceability on complex Projects.
