Title: Senior Software QA Analyst

Location: Spain; Barcelona (Hybrid work model)

Experience: Mid - Senior

Job Function: Engineering

Employment Type: Full-Time

Industry: Computer & Network Security

Job Summary

In 2019, Keyfactor decided to widen its investment and acquired Redtrust, a Spanish company pioneer in the management of people’s identity through the custody and management of digital certificates. Redtrust has a strong reputation for providing top-notch products and services in Spain. As a Senior Manager, you’ll be a key member of the engineering team and will develop & maintain Redtrust products.

The Senior Software QA Analyst is the quality-strategy owner for Redtrust — Keyfactor’s digital-signature and certificate-management platform. This is a senior individual-contributor role for someone who leads with test strategy and cross functional coordination, not just execution. You will take ownership of how Redtrust is tested end to end: defining risk-based test strategy, transforming a largely manual regression process into a prioritized, automation-first approach, and owning the interface between Product, Development, and QA so that quality is designed in early rather than inspected at the end. You will work alongside our automation engineers — you set the strategy and priorities and own coverage decisions; they build the automation — and partner with Development to grow the right test coverage at the right layer (unit, API, and UI). This role is central to modernizing our testing practices and improving coordination across Product, Development, and QA.

In your first year, success looks like:

  •  A risk-tiered, rationalized regression strategy: redundant and low-value coverage retired, the highest-risk scenarios prioritized, and the manual regression cycle measurably shorter and trending down as automation takes over.
  • A shared, documented definition of “critical path,” agreed with Product and Development, that drives what gets tested and at which layer.
  • A healthier testing pyramid taking shape — a growing unit-test base owned by Development, integration/API coverage owned by QA, and UI end-to-end testing focused on genuinely critical journeys — with you owning the boundary negotiations that make that shift real.
  • Quality risk made visible to leadership: regression cost, untested-surface exposure, and coverage trends quantified and reported to support planning.
  • Automation engineers freed to focus on building automation and API/signing service coverage, because the strategy, prioritization, and coordination load is owned by you

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and own a comprehensive, risk-based test strategy for Redtrust, spanning functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Lead the transformation of a largely manual regression process into a prioritized, automation-first approach: inventory and risk-tier existing coverage, retire redundant and low-value cases, and drive a prioritized automation backlog to completion with the automation engineers.
  • Design and maintain test plans and test cases for significant product features, ensuring thorough, risk-appropriate coverage.
  • Identify, document, and track defects, collaborating with Development to resolve them, and maintain healthy defect-triage discipline.
  • Participate in product design and refinement reviews to surface quality and testability risks early (“shift-left”).
  • Own the coordination interface between Product, Development, and QA — aligning the three functions on testing requirements and on which layer should catch which class of issue.
  • Partner with Development to define and grow the unit-test layer and agree the dev/QA testing boundary, prioritizing the platform’s most critical modules (e.g. signing and authentication).
  • Establish and maintain test documentation, quality metrics, and reporting; make quality risk and progress visible to engineering leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement in QA methodologies, tooling, and process, including safeguards that prevent regression scope from re-bloating as the product grows.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and share QA best practices across the team.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in QA engineering, QA analysis, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with risk-based test strategy — able to assess a large or bloated test suite and defensibly prioritize, rationalize, and reduce it, not merely execute it.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and influence: comfortable participating in product design reviews and negotiating scope and ownership with engineering and product stakeholders.
  • Solid test-automation literacy — sufficient to prioritize an automation backlog, judge the appropriate test layer (unit / API / UI), and collaborate credibly with automation engineers. (Building and maintaining automation frameworks is owned by the automation-engineering role, not this one.)
  • Experience with test-management tooling and defect-tracking/traceability practices.
  • Experience with manual testing and defect tracking, with a clear orientation toward eliminating manual toil through strategy and automation.
  • Strategic thinking, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and high-level proficiency in relevant tools and technologies.
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives, drive strategic change, and influence decision making across functions.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry trends, quality methodologies, and cross functional processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to security, PKI, certificate-management, or other compliance-sensitive domains (Redtrust is a digital-signature and certificate-management platform whose core value lies in signing and certificate operations).
  • Familiarity with BDD / Gherkin-style specification and Cucumber-based test suites.
  • Experience helping a team transition from a manual-heavy testing model to an automation-first one.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated testing integrates into them. #LI-NA1
