About the Role
The Senior IT Engineer will be responsible for advancing A-LIGN’s security posture, leading complex technical projects, and improving the reliability and scalability of the systems supporting our global workforce. In this role, you will apply Microsoft 365 security, systems integration, and automation expertise to deliver practical solutions that reduce risk and strengthen business operations. This highly visible position is ideal for an experienced, hands-on engineer who thrives in a collaborative and fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead complex IT and security projects end to end (requirements, design, implementation, testing, and documentation), maintaining project plans, timelines, and status reporting for IT leadership and business stakeholders
- Design, implement, and harden security across the Microsoft 365 E5 stack (Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview/Compliance, and Intune), including detections, alert rules, and automated response playbooks built with the IT Security team and our MDR/SOC provider
- Improve Microsoft Secure Score, device compliance, and conditional access posture, and drive remediation of findings with the responsible IT teams
- Administer and enhance the M365 environment and other business applications, including Workday, Zendesk, and collaboration and productivity tools
- Design and build integrations between business systems, such as Workday, Salesforce, Entra ID and M365, for identity lifecycle, provisioning, and data flow
- Partner with the SCALE team to architect solutions that scale with business needs, applying AI and integrations to business processes and workflows
- Automate recurring IT and security processes using PowerShell, Power Automate, Graph API, and AI tooling
- Engineer and maintain device management standards, images, application packaging, and policy baselines in Intune for Windows and macOS
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Security to keep IT systems aligned with A-LIGN's SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other accreditation requirements, and to evaluate new software, integrations, vendors, and emerging technologies that reduce risk, cost, and manual effort
- Support incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery testing, including technical execution and post-test documentation
- Produce and maintain technical design documents, implementation specs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
- Act as an escalation point and technical subject matter expert for the IT Support and Systems Administration teams
- Contribute to day-to-day IT operations alongside project work, including escalated tickets, troubleshooting end-user and system issues, system maintenance, and recurring administrative tasks
- Evaluate emerging technologies and prospective vendors, and recommend solutions that reduce risk, cost, and manual effort
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of professional experience in an IT engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure role, supporting a global user base
- 2+ years of experience leading IT or security projects, including planning, stakeholder management, and delivery of concurrent workstreams
- Demonstrated experience delivering security-focused projects in a Microsoft 365 E5 environment
- Hands-on administration experience with M365, Entra ID, Intune/Endpoint Manager, Defender, Purview/Compliance, and Sentinel
- Experience integrating business systems and identity sources, such as Workday to Entra ID including provisioning and lifecycle automation
- Strong scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Graph API, and Power Automate, including AI-enabled or integration-heavy solutions delivered with engineering teams
- Working knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53
- Experience collaborating with MDR/SOC and other external security partners
- Experience with Zendesk or a comparable ticketing system, and with Copilot or other AI tooling, is a plus
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision
CERTIFICATIONS
- Project management (PMP, CAPM) preferred but not required
- Microsoft security (SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, MD-102) or CompTIA Security+ preferred but not required

- Ability to translate framework requirements into clear, actionable requests for technical teams
- Highly organized with the ability to manage evidence deadlines across multiple concurrent audit cycles
- Excellent written communication for control narratives, evidence descriptions, and assessor responses
- Self-directed with strong follow-through in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proven experience utilizing AI tools to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and increase team efficiency
- Experience operating in PE-backed or high-growth environments preferred
