The Sr. ServiceNow Platform Engineer/Architect is responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing ServiceNow solutions that drive business transformation, operational excellence, and digital innovation. This role serves as a technical leader, leveraging advanced software engineering expertise and deep knowledge of the ServiceNow platform to develop innovative solutions, establish engineering standards, and influence technical strategies across multiple teams. Working closely with product partners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams, the engineer translates complex business requirements into sustainable ServiceNow capabilities that improve efficiency, reliability, user experience, and enterprise service delivery. The role also champions the adoption of emerging ServiceNow AI capabilities, including intelligent automation, predictive insights, generative AI, and workflow optimization solutions that enhance business outcomes and employee productivity.In addition to hands-on solution architecture and development, this role leads large and complex initiatives from concept through implementation, ensuring high-quality outcomes that align with enterprise objectives. The Sr. ServiceNow Platform Engineer/Architect provides ongoing technical guidance to engineering teams, promotes best practices through governance and design reviews, and evaluates emerging ServiceNow technologies and AI-driven innovations to support continuous improvement and platform evolution. Success in this role requires the ability to solve complex technical challenges, influence technical direction, and bridge business and technology priorities while advancing the organization's ServiceNow strategy and overall technical capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Implements ServiceNow software architecture and engineering approaches for complex initiatives within the job area, contributing to technical plans and working to achieve operational targets with major impact on results.
2. Adopts and refines advanced ServiceNow software engineering standards, practices, and governance mechanisms for the job area, influencing how multiple teams improve quality, reliability, and delivery.
3. Collaborates with senior engineers, product partners, and architecture teammates to shape technology approaches for the domain, providing deep technical insight and proposing solution patterns that inform local roadmaps and priorities.
4. Leads the end-to-end technical design and implementation of scalable, secure, and highly available ServiceNow software solutions for the job area, producing patterns and examples that other technical professionals can follow.
5. Independently troubleshoots and resolves complex technical issues in the area of responsibility, designing innovative architectures and performance, reliability, and scalability improvements that advance business objectives.
6. Provides ongoing technical guidance, coaching, and training to other engineers, delegating and reviewing work from lower-level technical professionals and raising the technical bar through design reviews and knowledge sharing.
7. Evaluates emerging ServiceNow technologies and techniques relevant to the job area, building prototypes and solution concepts that contribute measurable input into new features, products, or capabilities.
8. Contributes to the development of long-term technical goals and plans for the area of responsibility through well-reasoned recommendations, design proposals, and implementation experience.
9. Leads large or complex initiatives within the job area, coordinating and delegating technical work that may span outside the immediate team, and ensuring cohesive, high-quality outcomes with limited supervision.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
2. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development.
3. Deep knowledge of multiple programming languages, software architecture, and design principles.
4. Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, deployment, and security practices.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Professional ServiceNow certifications such as Certified Master Architect (CMA), Certified Technical Architect (CTA), Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), or Certified Application Developer (CAD).
2. Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, solution design, and enterprise architecture principles, with the ability to define scalable, reusable, and business-aligned platform patterns.
3. Deep expertise in CSDM, CMDB, service modeling, and service-aware operating models, including governance of data architecture, service ownership, and platform foundations that enable AI and automation.
4. Strong experience establishing and enforcing platform governance, architectural review processes, operating models, development standards, and technical debt management practices.
5. Expertise in out-of-the-box (OOTB) platform design, configuration-over-customization strategies, platform health, upgradeability, and federated development governance.
6. Strong knowledge of enterprise integrations, API architecture, Integration Hub, workflow automation, and executive-level stakeholder engagement, with the ability to translate business strategy into platform roadmaps and architectural decisions.
7. Strong familiarity with Agile frameworks, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and enterprise innovation management.
The annual base salary for this position is $150,000 - $165,000.
