Description
The position will support the Custom Welded Products business unit through drafting, documentation, testing support, and day-to-day technical assistance. They will support and/or lead initiatives including welded product development and utilization of welding and manufacturing technology within Welded Solutions.
- Support CWP business unit to meet project deliverables and production targets.
- Create and revise engineering drawings and related technical documents using SolidWorks and established drafting practices.
- Perform hands-on lab and shop-floor activities such as manufacturing, product qualification, testing, inspections, and recording results.
- Help prepare and update quality and process documents such as procedures, work instructions, inspection records, lab reports, test plans, and customer-required documentation.
- Review customer specifications, purchase order requirements, drawings, and internal notes to identify documentation needs, missing information, and questions requiring escalation.
- Communicate clearly with other departments to help resolve drawing, documentation, product, and production support questions.
- Escalate unclear requirements, quality concerns, safety concerns, schedule risks, supplier issues, and workload concerns with relevant details.
- Provide additional support to the Welded Solutions team as required.
- Mechanical Engineering related Diploma or Degree.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentations.
- Working knowledge of CAD and drafting practices; SolidWorks experience is required and AutoCAD or ASME Y14.5 familiarity is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications; experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft NAV is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and welding processes including GTAW and/or LBW, testing and inspection methods, or quality documentation is considered an asset.
- Ability to organize information, follow procedures, ask questions when requirements are unclear, and complete assigned work in a dynamic work environment under tight deadlines with appropriate supervision.
- Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 2 years experience required in an industrial / manufacturing environment including development / implementation of welding processes and procedures.
