Company Description

This is a YC-backed, recently funded infrastructure company building a modern platform that runs directly inside customers' cloud environments.

The company is building infrastructure as a product — deploying and managing production-grade Kubernetes infrastructure directly within customer AWS, GCP, and Azure accounts. The infrastructure management system itself is the core product, supporting customers ranging from early-stage startups to large enterprises.

The engineering team is small, flat, and highly technical, with approximately 20 people. Engineers have significant ownership and work across complex infrastructure problems while also engaging directly with customers to understand their needs.

This is not a traditional SRE or DevOps role. The team is looking for a strong software engineer who enjoys writing production application code and building sophisticated systems that provision, manage, and evolve infrastructure at scale.

What You Will Do

1. Build & Evolve the Infrastructure Management Platform

• Own and evolve the infrastructure management system powering a multi-cloud platform.
• Build software that provisions, manages, and rolls out infrastructure changes across hundreds of customer cloud accounts.
• Design reliable, automated systems for managing production Kubernetes infrastructure at scale.
• Build abstractions that make complex infrastructure operations safer, more reliable, and easier to operate.
• Contribute to the architecture and technical direction of the core platform.

2. Solve Complex Multi-Cloud Infrastructure Problems

• Design and build cloud-agnostic infrastructure systems across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Solve complex problems around provisioning, deployment, upgrades, reliability, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Build systems capable of supporting customers ranging from seed-stage startups to public enterprises.
• Improve the scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency of infrastructure across multiple cloud providers.
• Work with technologies including Go, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Argo CD, Helm, and major cloud platforms.

3. Own Engineering Quality & Reliability

• Raise the reliability and code quality of the infrastructure platform.
• Build robust automation and systems that reduce manual operational work.
• Identify architectural weaknesses and develop durable solutions rather than one-off fixes.
• Improve testing, observability, deployment processes, and overall engineering practices.
• Take ownership of problems from initial investigation through production implementation and iteration.

4. Work Directly With Customers & the Engineering Team

• Collaborate directly with customers through Slack and calls to understand infrastructure requirements and pain points.
• Translate customer needs into scalable platform and infrastructure improvements.
• Work closely with a small, highly technical engineering team in a flat organizational structure.
• Help the team develop smarter solutions to increasingly complex multi-cloud infrastructure challenges.
• Operate as a senior individual contributor with substantial technical ownership rather than as a people manager.

Ideal Candidate Background

Experience Requirements

• 4+ years of infrastructure, platform, or backend software engineering experience.
• Strong experience writing production application code as a software engineer.
• Demonstrated experience building software that manages, provisions, or operates infrastructure.
• Experience working on infrastructure as a product, ideally within a PaaS, IaaS, cloud platform, internal developer platform, or infrastructure-focused company.
• Strong experience working with production systems at meaningful scale.
• Experience working in a high engineering-bar environment is a strong signal.
• Startup or VC-backed infrastructure experience is highly valued.

Technical Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Go.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes.
• Production experience with multiple cloud platforms, particularly AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong understanding of Docker and containerized systems.
• Experience with deployment and infrastructure automation tools such as Argo CD and Helm.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, debugging, testing, and code quality.
• Ability to build reliable automated systems rather than relying primarily on manual infrastructure management.

• Deep understanding of infrastructure management and automation.
• Experience building systems that provision or manage cloud infrastructure programmatically.
• Experience designing reliable systems across multiple cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and production reliability.
